Donor and Alumni Engagement Coordinator

Position Description:

The Donor and Alumni Engagement Coordinator will work with the Chief Development Officer to support the organization’s Alumni Initiative and other fundraising efforts. This is a fundraising position that will focus on one or more of the following areas: annual giving, alumni engagement, volunteer relations, foundation relations, corporate engagement, gift planning, major gifts and cultivation/stewardship events. Main duties could include coordinating communications for donors, working on fundraising projects, and generally helping the development team execute their goals. You must be a strong communicator and also an expert organizer. You will be juggling many projects at once, and you should be able to work through programs and shift with ease.

Responsibilities:

 Alumni Council Development

·      Manage a portfolio of existing Alumni Council Members and recruit new Council Members (Nationally, Regionally, Locally)

·      Assist in meeting fundraising and organizational goals 

Alumni Engagement

·      Work closely with the Chief Development Officer to support Alumni Network Development, with the goal of increasing the percentage of participation of alumni giving in the non-gala cities;

·      Support CDO in the stewardship of existing Regional Councils and establishment of new Community Councils in target markets. Tasks include alumni outreach, cultivation, research, event logistics and outreach. 

Specialty Initiatives

·      Manage and meet fundraising goals for NMF’s specialty initiatives

o  Dr. David K. McDonogh Scholarship in Ophthalmology/ENT

o  Cardio Thoracic Surgery Scholarship

o  NMF/NMA Florida Scholarship Fund

o  Michigan Scholarship Fund

o  Anesthesiology Fund

o  Other new initiatives in development (Orthopedics fund, Arkansas, LSU, North Carolina, etc.) 

·      Manage and meet fundraising goals for NMF’s Donor and Alumni Scholarship Funds

Annual Campaign

o  Manage a donor portfolio and assist CDO in meeting Annual Campaign Fundraising goals

o  Assist in year-round stewardship of annual campaign donors and prospects

Qualifications                          

·      Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three to five years’ relevant experience in non-profit organization, or academic institution. 

·      Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including a high level of attention to detail and active listening skills. Must be able to problem-solve and troubleshoot, in addition to the ability to work independently in a dynamic team environment. 

·      Experience making one-on-one solicitations in a professional or volunteer capacity

·      Must have a passion for mission and ability to articulate to various stakeholders. 

·      Must have the ability to work under pressure in a rapidly changing environment, including a creative approach to problem-solving. 

·      Ability to respond creatively and diplomatically to conflicting priorities

·      Operational flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs, willingness to work outside standard established business hours. 

·      Excellent customer service and commitment to exceptional quality is a must. 

·      Must possess the ability to prioritize projects with sensitivity to changing priorities while meeting deadlines.

·      Small, collegial, enthusiastic team that shares a strong commitment to facilitating growth of a diverse health workforce. The team is committed to increasing access to healthcare and improving health outcomes to underserved populations.

·      NMF has a virtual remote working environment with team members based in New Orleans, New York, and Washington DC. However, location in the Washington DC area is preferred.

 

Compensation - This position carries a competitive salary, commensurate with experience, and a generous benefits package, including: paid time off; medical, dental and vision benefits; LTD; STD; Life Insurance; and 401K matching plan.
