American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a membership organization dedicated to the advancement of women's health care in Washington, DC, is currently seeking an Educational Exam and Editorial Manager to oversee the development, publications, and administration processes of the CREOG Examination. This position is responsible for communication with the Examination Editor and Examination Committee, revision of test items, researching appropriate references, submitting permission requests, and working in the databank software system daily.

  • Oversee the publications and administration processes of the CREOG Examination, including communication with the examination editor and examination committee
  • Work with primary editor on the submission and revision of test items for the CREOG Examination, including researching appropriate references, submitting permission requests, and working in the databank software on item development
  • Manage the editorial processes of CREOG surveys and publications, including survey development, dissemination, and analysis, publication writing, and editorial review
  • Assist with editing questions for consistency, style, and item classification. Check references to ensure answer and content validity. Obtain artwork and copyright permissions. Verify key for electronic scoring of and prepare item summary information. Work in the databank system daily.
  • Perform and editorial review and assist in referencing and permissions for other ACOG Educational Products
  • Manage administrative functions in conjunction with examination committee meetings: including the spring orientation, the compilation conference call in April, and the fall editorial meeting. Work with the committee chair, section leaders, relevant staff, and consultants to prepare and conduct these meetings. Ensure that editorial queries are resolved and changes in content incorporated into items from committee discussions.
  • Communicate with authors to coordinate the emailing of assignments, manuscript (PDF) revisions, provision of supplemental materials, and meeting deadlines. Assist in training individual committee members during the orientation meeting and introduce them to the databank software system. Aid in their queries along the way.

  • Bachelor's degree in English/Liberal Arts or related field is required
  • Minimum of three to five years of editorial experience is required
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience with seeking permission requests
  • Ability to multitask: coordinate elements of a publication schedule including manuscript development, artwork (tables and graphics), and references
  • Familiarity with computer programs (Microsoft Office), some knowledge of major editorial style guidelines
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology relative to obstetrics and gynecology desired (but not required)
  • Ability to work well with authors; be sensitive to the need for tact in helping authors perfect questions
  • Time oriented; ability to meet deadlines consistently
