Reporting to the Director of Programs and Community Engagement, our Programs and Community Engagement Coordinator is primarily responsible to support programs and community engagement events. We are looking for a competent Coordinator to undertake a variety of administrative, engagement, and program management tasks. They will help in planning and organizing programs and activities as well as carry out important operational duties, including special events and fundraising. This staff person will be part of our small and dedicated team with opportunities to grow within the organization and learn the nuts and bolts of working at an international youth leadership and conflict transformation grassroots organization.

1) 50% of the position supports Programming                          Tasks may include:

  • Supports the design, implementation, and evaluation of all programs
  • Supports the program-related work of International/national partner organizations and collaborators, and the training and preparation of program participants and international leaders
  • Supports the connections between youth, volunteers, staff, other departments, and/or external constituencies on day-to-day programmatic, operational, and administrative issues
  • Coordinates Program Schedules for US Domestic Programs, including collaborating with domestic partners
  • Coordinates US Domestic Programs, including acting as on-site staff when abroad
  • Supports Director of Program & Community Engagement (DPCE) in preparing International Teams and programs in the US
  • Supports the DPCE in creating program curriculum and materials
  • Communicates regularly with youth, alumni, and parents in the program, including availability outside normal working hours for crisis management situations
  • Assists in the collection of data and recommend changes to improve program outcomes
  • Prepares scheduled and special reports; maintains program/project records and statistical information.
  • Supervises and trains lower level staff, alumni, volunteers, and/or interns, as appropriate.
  • Supports DPCE to create, maintain budget and track expenses
  • Ensures implementation of policies and practices to oversee compliance with youth protection policies, educational curriculum, and risk reduction procedures
  • Supports communications through media relations, social media by working with Marketing Coordinator.
  • Performs clerical, filing, and administrative support tasks, including creation, typing, and editing of program correspondence, purchasing documents, reports, program handbooks, and other publications
  • Other tasks as needed, assigned by management

2) 50% of the position supports our Community Engagement             Tasks may include:

  • Supports and plays leading role in the planning and implementation of FFI major fundraising and special events including the Annual Roast and Golf Tourney as well as open houses and other events 
  • Participates in planning and implementing FFI’s overall fundraising strategy and programs
  • Supporting DPCE in strengthening Corporate, Civic, and Rotary Engagement
  • Provides exceptional customer service to donors, volunteers, community members and partners
  • Represents FFI at public events and assist with public speaking engagements representing FFI
  • Solicits in-kind donations and sponsorships
  • Supports the development and implementation of year-long Community Engagement calendar
  • Collaborates with VISTA Volunteer on the managing of volunteers for programs and events
  • Researches potential venues and work with site coordinators to receive quotes for special events
  • Identifies and recruits speakers for lecture series
  • Supports Marketing Coordinator on promotional efforts (electronic, print, media, physical distribution etc.)
  • Manages and engages committee volunteers for all events where applicable
  • Other tasks as needed, assigned by management



  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience. 
  • Preferred areas: International Studies, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, or another related field
  • Professional fluency in English and fluency in a second language is preferred
  • Experience in working with youth
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and driver’s license must be in good standing with insurance

Must possess the ability to:

  • Work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people showcasing respect for different cultural perspectives and approaches toward accomplishing shared goals
  • Support special events from start to finish that raise revenue for organization
  • Accept and complete tasks with minimal supervision in a highly self-motivated manner
  • Travel regionally and internationally for up to three weeks and on short notice. Able to attend evening and weekend events and meetings

Must possess:

  • High attention to detail, quality and control, including records keeping
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
  • Commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation. Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports

Must be:

  • Customer service-oriented, adaptable, resilient, and able to work well in high pressure situations
  • Tech savvy, proficient in MS Office. Experience with technology like LGL, Basecamp, Box preferred
  • Highly motivated towards finding creative ways to help young people achieve personal growth
  • Willing to perform tasks assigned by the Executive Director or at his/her direction


  • Starting salary will be $32,000 and includes a generous health and dental plan.
