Teacher wanted to teach five sections of middle school history. Candidate must be eager to work with students of all abilities in a non-selective school and have a deep enough command of their content area to adapt instruction to students’ interests and needs. Candidate must also be willing to involve him or herself in the life of the school.
· 2+ years of lead teaching experience in the middle or high school grades in an urban public school with a record of high student achievement highly preferred
· Bachelor’s degree from a competitive college or university required. Concentration or advanced degree in teaching area preferred.
· Spanish speakers and persons of color are strongly encouraged to apply.
ESSENTIAL JOB OBLIGATIONS
· Work closely with students, parents, teachers and administration to apply disciplinary code and school policies
· Communicate quickly with parents regarding disciplinary concerns
· Work with the Assistant Principal/Student Support and fellow Dean of Students to determine appropriate response to major disciplinary infractions by students.
· Advise and support students, parents and teachers as appropriate.
· Collaborate with administrators and faculty to revise the Family Handbook regarding discipline in preparation for the start of the school year

Washington Latin is a liberal arts, college preparatory school with a classical mission serving 700 students in grades 5-12 from across the District of Columbia.
