The Stone Soup Leadership Institute is seeking an Education Marketing & Social Media Coordinator who is passionate about bringing Sustainable Education to our schools.


Project: Sustainable Education Toolkit: Digital Tools For High School Educators & Their Students

Maximize the impact of our educational tools in our high schools; engage education influencers and develop strategies to cross-promote on all social media channels.

 

The Institute is a small non-profit with global multicultural team who are passionately committed to shining the light on the brave young people in our books and bringing our educational tools to high schools around the world. We are a learning organization where we each build on the others' gifts and skills to maximize our collective efforts. Roles and Responsibilities: Sustainable Education Marketing & Social Media Coordinator

• Seasoned, high energy, self-starter with team spirit, works virtually with social media team;                    

• Experienced Social Media management;                                                                                 

• Experienced with state of the art digital tools for high school students;

• Strong audience development focus: tactics to grow follower base within education influencers;  

• Engage and cross-share with education influencers across social media;

• Experience with YouTube (Safe for Kids) and StreamYard a plus;

• Detail oriented, takes pride in managing an editorial calendar;

• Submit weekly analytics & engagement report with strategic recommendations.

 

Time Commitment

• Start date: August 1, 2021 3 month project with review for ongoing position               

• Interviews: July 20-21 

• Virtual position in U.S. : 10-15 hours/week: 1-2 hours/day                                        

• Compensation based upon experience

 

For over 25 years, the Institute has been a leader in developing sustainable education and workforce development tools. With the launch of our new book and companion curriculum, we are eager to scale our outreach to reach schools nationwide and globally, so together we can build a more just, equitable and sustainable world.


Education: The Challenge: It is estimated that there are 10 million new jobs in the green economy. Young people want to be part of the solution. Up until now, our schools haven't been preparing them for the climate change reality and the transition to a sustainable economy. Since the pandemic, educators are searching for online tools to supplement their lesson plans to ensure that their students have the education they need to be part of this transition. 

 

Background: The Institute's Sustainable Education Toolkit

Stone Soup for a Sustainable World: Life-Changing Stories of Young Heroes features the stories of 100 climate change trailblazers, environmental justice changemakers, educator champions, sustainable business leaders, intergenerational legacy figures, green inventors and entrepreneurs, and emerging island leaders from 38 countries around the world, and 32 cities in the U.S. who are building a more just, equitable, and sustainable world. Our Companion Educational Curriculum is a dynamic, solutions-oriented program that brings these stories to life with customized lesson plans for each story that highlight the values and academic disciplines of Language Arts and STEM activities as well as Sustainable Innovations and Sustainable Career Pathways, to help guide students toward blue and green jobs to help rebuild the planet. The Sustainable Education Toolkit is aligned with ELA standards and Next Generation STEM state standards. 

Social Media Campaign: The Institute's social media team includes videographers producing short videos that bring these stories to life, and a graphics team creates vibrant media assets, and a baseline content calendar for weekly content featuring Young Hero of the Week from our book.

Stone Soup Leader Podcast - with global youth and international leaders from Stone Soup for the Sustainable World: Life-Changing Stories of Young Everyday Heroes.  under development

SustainabilityIsFun.net provides educators with engaging social media posts for the Young Hero of the Week with story, lesson plans, videos, Call to Actions.

 Teacher Training Program prepares educators and guidance counselors the tools they need to prepare and guide their students for the green/blue economy of the 21st century.
