Position Summary

Umoja seeks a Training Technician to provide critical support that ensures a seamless user experience for its professional development virtual session attendees. Working alongside Umoja’s Professional Development Facilitators, the Training Technician hosts webinar sessions and manages all technical requirements during assigned sessions, including screen sharing, breakout rooms, usage of digital white board, etc. Prior to each session the Training Technician reviews session materials, as well as, participates in a walkthrough with facilitators. Following each session, the Training Technician debriefs with facilitators to support continuous improvement of session materials. Location and Hours Umoja is located in Chicago and all responsibilities for this role can be completed remotely. Workshops occur primarily from 8:30am-4:30pm and last from 1.5-3 hours. The Training Technician will work an average of 10 hours per week and must have consistent access to high speed internet.

Essential responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:

  • Review professional development materials and participate in a walkthrough with facilitators prior to each assigned session
  • Open the virtual training room 20 minutes prior to the session’s scheduled start time
  • Share virtual session materials (i.e. Powerpoint slides) with participants
  • Respond quickly to facilitators’ requests for information and real-time session adjustments
  • Support participants’ learning by finding opportunities to reinforce learning, such as adding discussion questions into the chat box
  • Proactively work to resolve technical issues that arise during training sessions
  • Communicate unresolved technical issues to facilitators immediately to minimize any potential down time

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining attention to detail
  • Consistent availability to work during the hours of 8:30am-4:30pm
  • Responsive and adaptable to shifting conditions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Google Office, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel), and Zoom applications
  • An interest in the areas of Education, Social Work, Youth Development, and/or Restorative Practices preferred
