ORGANIZATION HISTORY AND MISSION

 

The MinKwon Center for Community Action is a dynamic, mission-driven, and people-powered nonprofit organization that serves, educates, and organizes the Korean American, Asian Pacific American (APA), and immigrant communities in New York and around the country. The MinKwon Center offers free assistance for immigration and public benefits, provides free legal representation for immigration and housing, promotes civic participation with voter and census registration and outreach, and organizes campaigns with other local, state, and federal coalitions. By prioritizing the needs and voices of low-income, undocumented, youth, senior, and limited English proficient residents, we are building a multilingual, multi-generational base of engaged community members to achieve social and economic justice for all.


 JOB DESCRIPTION

 

We are seeking a dedicated and talented individual to serve as a Temporary COVID-19 Vaccine Outreach Associate. The COVID-19 Vaccine Outreach Associate will have the opportunity to help in order to accomplish the goal of ensuring community members’ access and uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine and address linguistic, cultural and technological barriers.


 Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

• Disseminate the latest information related to vaccine confidence and preventive behaviors, and facilitate communication and dissemination of evidence-based COVID-19 information among key audiences

• Administer all in-person and virtual events and activities for vaccine education and outreach, including but not limited to: tabling, fliering, and virtual education events.

• Collaborate effectively with other staff, volunteers and external agencies in order to fulfill goals, including supporting Communications and Social Media staff with messaging needs

• Provide logistical and other support as required by supervising staff


QUALIFICATIONS

 

The minimum required qualifications for this position include the following

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

• Ability to work well both independently and on a team

• Spoken and written fluency or proficiency in Korean, required

• Knowledge, interest, and commitment towards concepts and issues of public health, outreach and education activities, especially in the context of Korean American, APA, and/or immigrant communities


 The ideal candidate will also have the following preferred qualifications:

• Experience related to public health, program management, and administrative work

• Ability to be highly organized, meet deadlines, take initiative on projects with minimal supervision and a sense of ownership, and follow up on communications in a consistent and punctual manner

• Proficiency in using Google Suite, such as Excel and Drive
