BYP 100 is an activist member-based organization of Black 18-35 year olds, dedicated to creating justice and freedom for all Black people. We do this through building a collective focused on transformative leadership development, direct action organizing, advocacy and education.

We're looking for a passionate person with experience in developing political education programs, facilitation and training. Our ideal candidate is in love and in alignment with BYP100's mission and is ready to join a dynamic team to help coordinate our political education programming. 

This position will coordinate the Political Education committee to engage the members, staff and board of BYP100 in a process of presentation and reflection focused on the core concepts that inform the central organizing work of BYP100. 

Key Responsibilities for Political Education Project Consultant

Team Development & Collaboration (40%)

  • Develop and coordinate a team of BYP100 members that build the capacity and vision for sustained political education infrastructure, including the development of supplemental education materials, event coordination and facilitation 
  • Host bi-weekly political education team meetings, in addition to check-ins with the Organizing Director and partners (as necessary) to ensure the work is participatory, team communications are timely, and connected budget are all in alignment with goals created by the education team
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to create and execute promotions that move members to participate in the political education series

Curriculum and Tool Development (30%)

  • Audit existing education curriculum and tools, make recommendations about what is needed
  • Create a curriculum with accompanying materials for use in BYP100’s education programs
  • Organize education resources for each session

Organization of Processes and Procedures (20%)

  • Create and maintain BYP100’s political education calendar  
  • Create and maintain the budget for political education program, as needed

Assessment (10%)

  • Provide ongoing recommendations, reporting and feedback on political education series
  • Monitor member feedback, maintaining a commitment to continual program improvement and high levels of member satisfaction

Candidate requirements:

  • 2+ years facilitation/training experience & developing education curriculum
  • Cares about and centers Black women, girls (trans & cis) and gender non conforming people
  • Skilled in speaking on issues of gender justice, economic justice, policing, Black liberation and other relevant issues
  • Deep familiarity with working from an anti-oppression lens in pursuit of justice and liberation
  • Commitment to learning, leadership development, and relationship building
  • Vision, creativity, enthusiasm and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Success as an independent, self-motivated leader with an ability to drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment

  • Outline for a creative education session for members to deepen their understanding of and practice applying their knowledge of Black Queer Feminism, including a timeline for collaboratively implementing and evaluating the session with the political education team.

Based upon these submissions, we will invite candidates that we are interested in moving forward with to an interview with our team and to facilitate a mini creative education session based upon the outline they provided. Candidates moving to the next round will be invited to submit a proposal for the work including timeline and cost.
