JFCS in Teaneck NJ is seeking to fill an amazing VISTA position: Volunteer position with robust stipend


Jewish Family & Children's Services of Northern New Jersey (JFCS) is headquartered in Teaneck, NJ with offices in Fair Lawn and Wayne, NJ. JFCS is a non-profit organization providing the community with a wide array of professional social services including: information & referral, clinical services, employment services, senior care, after-school programs, aid and advocacy and emergency financial assistance.

Americorps VISTA has granted this VISTA member position for JFCS beginning this summer (2018). This full time position will be for a minimum of one year, and may be renewed for an additional one-two years.

Description: The Food Pantry Services/Expansion VISTA will have a unique opportunity to set up systems and guidelines for the expansion of the Food Pantry to our second site. Last year’s data substantiates the need for growth from an emergency service for clients to an invaluable resource for the community at large. The second food pantry will open this year and, as it expands, the VISTA member will assess donor relationships, corporate partnerships and evaluate inventory management and clients services to assure not only a seamless flow of operations but assisting clients in achieving long term sustainability. You will set up work-flow and quality control of details and service. We will need fine tuning of every detail for those who are hungry.    


Service Areas: Community Outreach, Community & Economic Development, Children/Youth, Hunger, Health 

Skills:  VISTA Candidates need to have very strong computers/technology and communication skills. Additionally, exposure to/experience in any of the following areas is a big plus for this role: Non-Profit Management, Public Health, Fund-raising/Grant Writing, Community Organization, Social Services, Business
