Domestic Violence Counselor

Function of Position:

Responsible for the provision of counseling and case management services to adult and child victims of domestic violence

Qualifications:

·      Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, counseling, sociology, psychology, or related field.

·      At least two years of experience in a human service setting or other front-facing role

·      Passion and alignment with Quanada’s mission and values

·      Foundational understanding of trauma-informed services and least-restrictive approach to the shelter environment

·      Ability to function highly as part of a collaborative team

·      Willingness to commit to a self-care plan to mitigate harm from vicarious trauma

·      Achievement of IL Domestic Violence Professional Certification within two years of accepting position

·      Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Essential Responsibilities and Job Duties

Provide individual and group counseling for shelter and walk-in clients (adults & children)

Assist with advocacy services and crisis intervention                                                            

Engage with other counselors and advocates during collaborative case management           

Participate in on-call rotation                                                                                            

Facilitate professional trainings & public education                                                

Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation
