Position Concept

JA Finance Park is a dedicated facility for immersive personal financial education. In partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools, the facility operates a daily, digital ‘real-life’ simulation, that is a culminating experience to multiple hours of classroom curriculum serving nearly 12,000 students each year. 

In concert with the Education Department, the Manager of Program Operations implements and facilitates the execution and expansion of JA® programs in the territory of Junior Achievement of Greater Washington in accordance with the organization’s yearly operating plan.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the JA Finance Park program including managing and supporting the part-time Education Associates who implement the JA Finance Park program each day. The ideal candidate is a positive, customer service oriented person who has the skills to adapt quickly, problem solve on a daily basis, and maintain a cohesive working environment.

This position is located in Silver Spring, MD.


Primary Responsibilities

·        Manage the JA Finance Park simulation, including, but not limited to, conducting volunteer training, ensuring daily facility and staff readiness, managing the simulation technology, supervising part-time Education Associates, facilitating guests’ experience in the JA Finance Park simulation and collaborating with Manager, Program Engagement to create daily action plans.

·        Serve as simulation software lead, conducting improvements and updates and ensuring daily readiness. Assure program quality through daily engagement in the simulation. Continually provide feedback to help maintain program fidelity.

·        Serve as the on-site security and transportation lead at all times.

·        Provide in-person support to all constituents onsite. Generate appropriate correspondence with teachers, volunteers and coordinators in line with JA’s constituent communication plan.

·        Create and manage staffing calendar and work plans and conduct weekly briefings for Education Associates.

·        Cross-train as Manager, Program Engagement to understand the school and volunteer the planning process and communication that takes place.

·        Cross-train as Education Associate and maintain connectedness to daily simulation by taking on peer roles within the facility on a scheduled basis, including serving as a volunteer and conducting teacher trainings.

·        Build a collaborative, professional, and communicative relationship with Manager, Program Engagement to ensure a productive working environment that supports JA’s standard of excellence.

·        In collaboration with JA Finance Park® regional team, build and implement strategies to ensure an even end-user experience in all JA Finance Park facilities.

·        Document daily user experience via photo, collecting quotes and anecdotes and relay that information to the communication and stewardship teams.

·        Record and manage all daily simulation data, including timely data entry and report generation, as required to ensure positive program management.

·        Adhere to JA’s data collection and program documentation protocol.

·        Assist in development of yearly calendar for outreach that includes timetables, procedures and responsibilities to be accomplished.

·        Maintain facility inventory and relay facility maintenance, improvements and IT needs to Operations team.

·        Create volunteer records and verify classes in CRM database.

·        All other duties as assigned.


Professional and Physical Requirements

·        A bachelor’s degree 

·        2+ years’ experience in a relationship or program management setting

·        2+ years’ experience working with students in an educational setting

·        Record of successful staff management

·        Reliable personal transportation

·        Incumbents must be able to pass a federal background check and be able to work in the presence of children prior to the first day of employment

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

·        A polished, professional phone demeanor

·        Excellent presentation skills

·        Ability to handle multiple, competing priorities with poise

·        Ability to work in a collaborative environment

·        Knowledge of the Montgomery County, MD community a plus

·        Ability to lift 25 pounds

·        Ability to spend significant time at a computer and conduct data entry

·        Ability to be mobile in the JA Finance Park facility for several hours at a time
