Programs Director

Our full-time Programs Director will oversee the operations and expansion of the AsylumConnect Junior Board Program for LGBTQ+ and allied young professionals in the United States. Launched in 2020, the AsylumConnect Junior Board is a group of young professionals (ages 21 to 40) committed to supporting AsylumConnect’s work through fundraising, networking and marketing. The 2021 Junior Board included 35 young professionals across the United States, with 86% of membership identifying as LGBTQ+ and/or immigrants, and raised over $68,000 for AsylumConnect. The remote 2022 Junior Board currently includes 35+ young professionals from PwC, EY Parthenon, Accenture, Meta, ShutterStock, Blank Rome, Petal, and more leading companies. The program’s vision is to build a national movement and mobilize thousands of LGBTQ+ and allied young professionals across the U.S. to serve as ambassadors in their communities for the world’s first tech platform designed for LGBTQ+ people fleeing persecution.

We're searching for a fundraiser with strong communication skills and expertise in corporate giving and project management to help take our Junior Board Program to the next level. In this role, you will partner closely with our Executive Director and Development Director to help ensure the long-term financial sustainability and overall success of the program.

Salary and Benefits

The starting salary range for this position is $50,000-$60,000 per year. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and 401(k), 3 weeks paid vacation and all federal holidays. The desired start date for this position is ASAP.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Executive Director.  
• Serve as the primary point of contact for AsylumConnect Junior Board prospective members, current members and alumni.  
• Lead Junior Board membership engagement and retention.
• Lead Junior Board recruitment with a focus on young professionals in priority industries (such as tech, consulting, financial services, & corporate law).
• Ensure all Junior Board members are on track with their annual membership dues payments. 
• Collaborate with the Development Director and Junior Board members/alumni to convert their employers into corporate partners for AsylumConnect.   
• Work with the Junior Board co-chairs to lead monthly general membership meetings.
• Work with the Junior Board special interest committee co-directors to ensure committee goals are being met.
• Meet regularly with the Junior Board co-chairs, other steering committee co-directors, and general members to ensure program success.  
• Coordinate the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the program.
• Lead the planning and execution of converting the Junior Board Program from a remote, nationwide program model to establishing in-person regional chapters across the country.
• Contribute to the AsylumConnect internship program, including recruitment, selection and general programming, as needed.   
• Participate in special projects and seek additional responsibilities. 

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) required. 
• Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector.
• Experience securing and managing corporate partnerships/gifts. 
• Previous leadership and/or project management experience. 
• Previous volunteer management and recruitment experience. 
• Strong understanding of AsylumConnect and the ability to write and speak persuasively about the organization’s mission. 
• Ability to recruit, engage and retain LGBTQ+ and allied young professionals across the country.
• Excellent presentation, communication, public speaking, and listening skills.
• Comfortable working remotely and using online communication tools (G Suite, Slack, Zoom, Asana). 
• Deep commitment to and passion for LGBTQ+ rights.

Preferred qualifications: 

• 4-6 years of experience in corporate giving, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and/or nonprofit fundraising experience. 
• Excited to make a minimum 2-year commitment to this role. 
• Previous experience working with the LGBTQ+ community. 
• Previous experience recruiting and working directly with young professionals (ages 21-40).
