The Urban Assembly (UA) is a non-profit provider of school support solutions that boost school and student performance. Under the mission of advancing students’ social and economic mobility by improving public education, the UA provides schools and districts with innovative data-driven, student-centered approaches to academics, social-emotional learning, and postsecondary readiness. The (UA) founded a network of unique, small public secondary schools throughout NYC. UA schools are open to all students, and our goal is to prepare 100% of UA graduates for success in the 21st century economy.

Role Description:

UA is seeking a Director of Alumni Success to expand the impact of UA’s Summer Bridge and Bridge + programs and Text Messaging CampaignsThe Director will collaborate with UA Central Teams and school-based staff to cultivate student success tools, to streamline programming, and to develop efficient feedback loop models that measure the efficacy of the UA mission. The Director will think creatively and innovatively about how iterations of Alumni Success programming can be leveraged to expand opportunities for all public school students and graduates.  

The Director will be responsible for identifying, maintaining, and assessing the partnerships required to move this work forward. This individual will develop a clear plan of action in this pursuit and will communicate with key stakeholders, including the 12,000+ UA alumni who continue to play a large role in the 21st century workforce. Above all else, the Director is proactive and mission-driven -- a team player who seeks out opportunities to collaborate and create so that the UA identity can continue to form and be forged not only inside UA schools but also all public school buildings. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience working in data-informed environments to produce equity-advancing student outcomes
  • 5+ years coaching / training experience, including in-person and virtually
  • 5+ years experience managing a team
  • Experience with text message campaign management 
  • Knowledge of design, development, funding, and evaluation of programs and people
  • Track record of securing partnerships and executing contracts in the educational marketplace
  • Track record of taking prudent risks and iterating in pursuit of education reform
  • Experience with innovative, scalable student engagement practices and tools, targeting ages 17-24
  • Deep commitment to public education
  • Deep commitment to and strong fluency in data analysis

Unfortunately, due to a non-compete clause, we are unable to hire staff directly out of DOE schools or central offices, but former DOE staff (out of the system for more than 1 year) are encouraged to apply.
