Organizational Background: 

Dreamcatchers, a newly formed youth development organization in SW Florida, is seeking a full-time Program Director. The mission of Dreamcatchers is to raise aspirations, build resiliency and promote critical life skills in the lives of young people through expanding their worldviews and surrounding them with long-term relational, educational and social-emotional support systems. Dreamcatchers serves students living in the city of Immokalee and is designed around a 9 year mentoring model which follows a small cohort of students from the time they enter the program in 6th grade all the way to the 2nd year of their post-secondary experience - whether it be college and/or career. The program includes experiential, environmental and expeditionary learning opportunities in conjunction with the support of committed adult volunteers and peer mentors.   

Position Summary:  The Program Manager’s primary responsibility is to be a key “relational router” for the group of 20 students who are selected into the Dreamcatchers’ mentoring cohort in 6th grade. The Program Manager’s role is to help build educational, social-emotional and relational support systems around students’ academic and non-academic needs as they proceed through the Dreamcatchers’ unique 9 year progression model towards high school graduation and beyond. The Program Manager will help create, implement and lead educational expeditions for their cohort throughout the program year that the students themselves will have a say in designing. The Program Manager will also be responsible for helping to recruit and train adult/peer mentors to positively impact the lives of the students in their cohort over the course of the 9-year process. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

·        Willingness to make at least a five year commitment to serve in the city of Immokalee, Florida

·        Minimum of Bachelor's Degree

·        At least 3 years of experience teaching, leading and/or mentoring groups in an outdoor setting

·        Excellent written and oral communication skills

·        Clean driving record

·        Must be willing to drive a 15 passenger van

·        Current Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) certification or ability to acquire it within 3 months of hire

·        Extensive experience in working with young people of all ages

·        Team-oriented and collaborative-minded

·        Must have excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

·        Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills that can meet people where they are intellectually, emotionally, physically & spiritually

·        Works collaboratively and/or independently as the task requires

·        Strong critical/creative/strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills

·        Organized with strong attention to detail

·        Meets deadlines, works well under pressure

·        Skilled facilitator

·        Experience with risk-management best-practices

·        Willingness to travel out of state for training soon after being hired


  • Develop and maintain caring relationships with participating students and their families

·        Oversee cohorts of youth and plan, design and implement program curricula and activities. 

·        Design, organize and lead three educational expeditions a year (from 3 to 10 days in length), as well as other smaller expeditions (1-3 days in length)

·        Facilitate students in teambuilding activities and consensus decision making during pre-trip planning meetings

·        Manage program accounting, including expedition budgets

·        Recruit, train and lead volunteer mentoring efforts for specific programs

·        Develop and maintain relationships with teachers, school counselors, school administrators and other community stakeholders on behalf of program participants

·        Maintain and manage specific program property including, expedition equipment and gear, as well as company owned or rented vehicles

·        Oversee program evaluation and assessment of the youth in the program

·        Work closely with the Program Director to ensure all Dreamcatchers students’ academic and non-academic needs are met

·        Prepare detailed reports for Program Director and Executive Team

Other Qualifications:

·        Qualified applicants will have minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience working with low income youth. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsible for managing groups of leadership teams, youth cohorts, parents and volunteers.

Work Environment/Dynamics: Dreamcatchers maintains an office in Immokalee, FL. Our programs with youth take place in the local schools, on expeditions and at the Dreamcatchers’ offices. The work schedule is based on a 40-hour workweek, but extended hours are often necessary. Weekend and evening hours are frequently required. Expeditions can require long periods of travel. Program administration requires periods of time sitting behind a computer in a professional office environment. Programs are held regardless of weather, which means sometimes working in hot, wet, "buggy" or even cold conditions. As a small, community-based organization, all staff must value and respect the team environment with the ability to look beyond the confines of their job description to ensure success for the young people that the organization supports.


The pay range for this position is $45,000-$50,000 annually, depending on experience and Qualifications. Dreamcatchers offers a competitive benefits package, including health and retirement plans.

Level of Language Proficiency

Bilingual Spanish and/or Haitian-Creole speaker a plus.
