The Opportunity.
Reporting to the Senior Curator, while working closely with the entire Curatorial team at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, the Curatorial Assistant will provide general support for the daily and long-term operations of the department which include organizing and implementing contemporary art exhibitions and related public programs, programming the 30-acre Sculpture Park, and managing a permanent collection of 4,000+ objects.
In This Role You Will:
- Conduct research and provide administrative support the planning of upcoming exhibitions and sculpture park projects
- Facilitate communication with artists, curators, lenders, and other collaborators concerning production, installation, promotion, and documentation of exhibitions.
- Help create, edit, and design exhibition labels, interpretative materials, checklists, and website content
- Coordinate rights and reproductions, photography, copyediting, and related efforts for publications
- Working with the Registrar, organize and maintain exhibition and collection files
- Assist with the preparation of presentations and other materials for internal and external meetings and events.
- Create and manage traveling arrangements, honoraria, and events-related logistics for artists and guests for public programs
- Coordinate and communicate across multiple departments at deCordova and The Trustees about curatorial efforts
- Participate in and support training for staff and volunteers about exhibitions and curatorial projects
- Process departmental invoices, assist with budget input and reporting
- Working with Marketing, Communications, and Engagement staff, assist with projects that promote, publicize, and interpret exhibitions and public programs
- Assist with Development and grants-related requests and reports for exhibitions and sculpture park projects
- Other duties as assigned

Level of Language Proficiency
Education and Experience:
- BA (MA preferred) in Art History, Arts Administration, or Curatorial/Museum Studies and/or significant experience in arts-related non-profit.
- At least 2 years of office and/or museum experience.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Excellent writing and copy-editing skills; ability to write about contemporary art in a clear, engaging, and accessible way
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; discerning and professional in handling sensitive or confidential matters
- Skills in project management, setting priorities, and time management for multiple, simultaneous projects
- Passion for contemporary art and culture
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to multitask, respond quickly, and work collaboratively
- Skills in editing and design
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite software (esp. Word, Excel, PP). Proficiency in InDesign and Photoshop preferred. Working knowledge of museum database systems a plus.
- Team player with a positive, versatile attitude who can respond to the changing needs of each curatorial project
Other:
- This position requires occasional weekday evening and weekend hours as needed to accommodate department needs.
