Organization Overview 

The Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) is a non-profit, multi-service organization focusing primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of East Harlem and Yorkville, and seek to deliver programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational. 

Position Summary 

Reporting to the Program Manager, Aging Services, the Community Center Concierge Specialist (Specialist) is responsible for welcoming and assessing the situational needs of individuals who are seeking access to the Isaacs Older Adult Center (including personnel, participants, interns, and volunteers) while ensuring that all health and safety protocols and procedures are followed while the building is in operation. The Specialist will drive organizational efforts to create a healthy community and helping to reduce safety risks. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of all safety rules and regulations and working thoughtfully and consistently to improve our day-to-day operation. Maintain the coordination, implementation, and administration of all safety protocols and procedures. Respond to questions and concerns with a sense of urgency and kindness, in person, on the telephone, and on-line. Work in collaboration with the program manager, social services staff, and key personnel to educate the community on all applicable health standards and resources. Maintain a consistent presence at the front desk and visit programs and activities within the facility to promote positive experiences. Serve as a primary point of access for clients to access services and resources both internally (such as case management and food access) and externally. To achieve the above, the Specialist will be responsible for all entry points, enforce all identified guidelines, and support the preparedness of the organization and community in response to all health and safety needs and concerns. 

 Qualifications & Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree is highly preferred.  
  • Bilingual, English/Chinese or English/Spanish highly preferred.  
  • Experience providing administrative support in a social service and/or community-based setting is a plus. 
  • Able to thrive in any high-volume/high-intensity community-based setting.  
  • Happy, welcoming, and can-do attitude with clients, participants, and coworkers. 
  • Ability to effectively interact with a broad spectrum of community members – older adults, children, parents, and caregivers, etc.  
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Excellent customer service skills, detail-oriented and a team player. 
  • Experience with entering, organizing, analyzing, and sharing data. 
  • Computer Proficiency; Office 365, (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and database management.  
  • Flexible/adaptable nature to work in a continuously evolving environment. 
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. 
  • Ability to work some flexible hours (e.g., evenings, weekends, Thanksgiving or Christmas Holiday)  

Primary Duties 

Health and Safety 

  • Greet and welcome individuals seeking access to the Isaacs Center Older Adult Center including personnel, clients, participants, interns, and volunteers. 
  • Organize and coordinate all intake procedures including but not limited to daily participant (temperature) checks. 
  • Ensure that all health and safety guidelines are being met throughout the day. 
  • Serve as primary point of access for participants to access services and resources both internally (such as case management and food access) and externally. 
  • Inform the social services staff of any issues or inquiries, etc. 

 

Administrative 

  • Answer phone calls, questions, etc. in a prompt and polite manner. 
  • Provide and update information about community programs and resources.  
  • Conduct initial inquiries to assess clients' and their situational needs; determining which services and assistance are necessary. 
  • Serve as a liaison between the client and social, financial and health services. 
  • Assist clients with completion of paperwork when necessary.  
  • Collect, enter, and report on program data as needed.  

 Facility/Community 

  • Ensure compliance with all organizational and regulatory expectations.  
  • Maintain a safe, organized, inviting, well-stocked and professional working area.  
  • Assist social services staff with participant and program engagement as needed. 
  • Assisting in training and acclimating added support staff.
