You can make a difference, as we are seeking a Senior Accountant! The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing financial accounting tasks, which includes preparing journal entries and financial statements, reconciling investment transactions, as well as supporting the payroll function. The incumbent reviews the work of others and supports financial and analytical projects as requested.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and approves daily deposits.
  • Reconciles main investment pool and prepares asset allocation.
  • Reviews investment reconciliations of supporting organizations.
  • Processes fund change requests.
  • Reviews and approves investment management and custodial fee invoices.
  • Assists Director of Finance with materials for Committee and Board meetings.
  • Compiles data, reports and correspondence related to investments, gifts and deferred assets for the annual financial audit, which includes preparing tax analysis as required.
  • Prepares investment surveys.
  • Assists Director of Finance with compilation of tax return (forms 990) information and state tax returns for the Foundation and supporting organizations.
  • Assists Director of Finance with analytical projects in Excel as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance-related field required; CPA preferred.
  • Three (3) or more years of financial accounting experience required; previous experience working in the nonprofit industry preferred.
  • Advanced training and knowledge of nonprofit accounting is preferred.
  • Experience with financial accounting software preferred.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial equity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of different accounting systems/financial policies/business environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint specifically), web-based applications and databases, with intermediate to advanced skills in Excel.
  • Ability to take initiative on projects and develop new processes and procedures.
  • Ability to learn new procedures quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Criminal background and credit checks are required for this position.
