General Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Supervisor.)

  1. Annually reviews and assists in making recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.
  2. Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organization's compliance;
  3. Assists in maintaining organization compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters; including personnel, medical, and I-9 files.
  4. Facilitates benefit administration, including on-line enrollments and terminations.
  5. Maintains applicant flow log; Posts and manages job postings on various websites; Conducts reference and background checks
  6. Processes new hire onboarding, orientation.
  7. Processes and maintains termination paperwork.
  8. Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  9. Assists in communicating changes in the organization's personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed.
  10. Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization's wage and salary program.
  11. Works with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
  12. Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the organization.
  13. Assists in maintaining a human resource information system that meets the organization's personnel information needs.
  14. Maintains job descriptions and perform exempt classification analysis when warranted
  15. Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.
  16. Light administration duties covering phones when needed, mail, internal office communications, copying and organizing of files.

  • Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Ability to handle complex problems.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking with the ability to solve problems by gathering data, reasoning logically, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Ability to function and thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. Self-starter with enthusiasm and initiative.
  • Experience in an international environment a plus. Interest and ability to work in a diverse organization being sensitive to cultural differences required.

Education and/or Experience:

The HR Generalist will have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field and 2 - 4 years in the HR field
  • Experience with the rules and regulations governing non-profits, human services or educational setting, preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: PHR or SHRM-CP credentials, preferred
