The Medicare Rights Center (www.medicarerights.org) is a national, nonprofit consumer service organization that works to ensure access to affordable health care for older adults and people with disabilities through counseling and advocacy, educational programs, and public policy initiatives. Medicare Rights’ unique blend of service, education, and advocacy ensures that real consumer experiences reach the highest levels of policymaking, and that policies and laws adopted at state and federal levels are translated for consumers and effectively implemented. Each year, Medicare Rights answers more than three million questions for older adults and people with disabilities through helpline and web-based assistance, and collaborates with diverse stakeholders to improve the Medicare program. This is an exciting and important time at Medicare Rights. Nationally, more than 60 million people are eligible for Medicare. Numerous opportunities exist for reaching these individuals and their families with good information and assistance, preparing dedicated professionals to serve those with Medicare, and shaping the future of Medicare and related programs for future generations. Medicare Rights is committed to prioritizing the most underserved Medicare beneficiaries, a commitment reflected in the organization’s direct service, education, and policy work.
