Missouri Family Health Council, Inc. (MFHC), a private nonprofit organization, champions access for every individual to culturally sensitive, quality, sexual and reproductive health education and services. Our mission is achieved in two primary ways: through advocacy to break down systemic policy barriers which decrease health equity and impede access to services; and improving quality services through programming. MFHC is proud to support systems of care throughout the state, with particular emphasis on safety net providers, in delivering patient-centered reproductive healthcare to all those who seek services. MFHC is seeking a driven and hardworking advocate to serve as Outreach and Advocacy Manager. This person will have the responsibility of assisting in the implementation of MFHC’s advocacy plan and serving as the lead for MFHC’s outreach, community education, and mobilization activities. The Outreach and Advocacy Manager is part of the team that champions – and ultimately wins – changes in policy and regulation that increase affordability, quality, and accessibility of healthcare for Missourians. This position offers an exciting opportunity to grow an advocacy program and make a true impact in the family planning and reproductive justice landscapes of Missouri.


Responsibilities include:

·      Collaborate with Director of Policy and Advocacy to create and implement an annual advocacy plan;

·      Lead MFHC’s participation in community education and outreach events, including conferences, trainings, speaking engagements, and educational forums;

·      Lead MFHC’s outreach data collection by collecting, logging, and organizing all outreach and sharing data with relevant evaluation partners as needed;

·      Lead Community Mobilization efforts and provide partner support through regular data collection and review, check-ins, and meetings;

·      Leverage MFHC’s network of health centers to engage, organize, and advocate for MFHC’s policy priorities;

·      Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with community partners;

·      Collaborate with the Communications Manager on development of advocacy-related communications and public education tools; and

·      Collaborate with the Director of Policy and Advocacy to participate in and add value to coalitions, advisory groups, and partnerships.


Qualifications include:

·      Passion for MFHC’s mission of championing access for every individual to culturally sensitive, quality, sexual and reproductive health education and services;

·      Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Public Health, Public Policy, Gender or Sexuality Studies, Political Science, Social Work, Public Affairs, etc.) or equivalent experience;

·      Two years of experience in advocacy, outreach, community engagement, public affairs, electoral politics, or policy;

·      Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of organizations and people;

·      Capacity to stay well organized while managing multiple projects and deadlines;

·      Comfort with rapid-response communications, mobilization, and fast-changing priorities;

·      Experience with data management or Microsoft Excel;

·      Familiarity with online activism and digital organizing platforms like the Action Network;

·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with public speaking;

·      Ability to travel throughout Missouri and availability to work occasional nights and weekends and extended hours during legislative session.

·      Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout Missouri for trainings, events, meetings, etc. This position has the option of working from the Jefferson City office or working remotely from anywhere in MO.
