Location:     Remote within U.S. 

Salary Range:  $50-62K, depending on location & experience

Purpose

The Program Assistant is an integral part of the Dream Corps JUSTICE team.Often serving as a hub for the program leadership, this position keeps our national, all-remote operation running smoothly. The Program Assistant will work under the direction of the Dream Corps JUSTICE National Director to run the program’s administrative components, manage important relationships, and assist with program communications. 

We are looking for a highly motivated professional early in their career. This is a position that can lead to additional internal advancement in our growing program. 


Responsibilities:

Administrative Support:

  • Review incoming scheduling and booking requests, conduct preliminary research to evaluate opportunities.
  • Assist with other administrative procedures such as processing contracts, expense reimbursements, vendor payments, etc.  
  • Schedule team meetings, ensure the agenda is set, take notes and track important decisions and next steps. 
  • Provide support for staff meetings, retreats, planning and other special projects.
  • Ensure program consistency on using project tools. 
  • Act as a surrogate for the National Director in internal meetings as directed. Take notes, report back to the National Director, and be the voice for Dream Corps JUSTICE where appropriate.

Policy and Communications

  • Assist with creation of communications materials, including social media posts, press releases, powerpoint presentations, and other content. 
  • Track media hits and other criminal justice trends. 
  • Support National Director on evaluating new potential projects, including opportunities for major innovations in the criminal justice field. 
  • Assist with background research and preparing materials in advance of key meetings and events.

Relationship Management: 

  • Ensure the National Director maintains excellent relationships with all high-level partners for our work. 
  • Work with the Communications and Development teams on key fundraising and media relationships, and with the JUSTICE leadership team on maintaining organizational and political partnerships in the criminal justice field. 
  • Draft strategic communications for the National Director, including emails, speeches, social media posts, etc, to be shared with key stakeholders or shared publicly.

Qualifications & Skills

  • First and foremost, a hunger and curiosity for advancing bold criminal justice reform. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all cultures, ages, races, and professional industries, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Impeccable attention to detail. 
  • Work both independently and as part of a high-performing team.
  • Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Political experience is a plus, political savvy is a must. 
  • People with lived experience or some other personal connection to the criminal legal system are encouraged to apply. 
  • Policy background in criminal justice is a plus. 
  • Experience with Google apps, Slack and integration across mobile and desktop platforms are essential.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Wordpress, Action Kit and Asana are a plus.
