Organization Overview

The DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence (DCCADV, The Coalition) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to creating a community where domestic violence is replaced with human dignity. DCCADV is the only federally recognized domestic violence coalition in the District of Columbia and serves as a resource for the thousands of adults and children experiencing domestic violence each year, as well as the local organizations that serve them. Our fundamental goals are to provide leadership and support, build awareness and enhance systemic response to survivors of domestic violence and their children.

 

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Finance and Operations the Senior Accountant will assist with accounts payable, accounts receivables, payroll, credit card administration, grant management and other tasks as assigned.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Manage Accounts Payable

·        Prepare and process all invoices, checks, disbursements, and reimbursements including vendor invoices, travel and staff reimbursements, credit card purchases and other accounts payable

  • Ensure payable are in compliance with funding priorities, budgetary guidelines, and general accounting acceptance practices
  • Ensure payable are paid in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ensure adequate and sufficient substantiation are attached to all payable
  • Charge payable to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoices
  • Ensure payable in general ledger have sufficient and adequate descriptions
  • Respond to and answer all vendor inquiries and questions, solve discrepancies
  • Update and maintain files and documentation thoroughly
  • Reconcile payable as required, such as credit card statements

 

Manage Accounts Receivable

  • Create invoices for all federal, government, foundation, contractual, and other agreements on a timely basis
  • Record all receivables including electronic draw-downs, ensuring proper descriptions are attached
  • Perform accounts receivable reconciliations, and investigate and resolve any irregularities or inquires
  • Maintain W-9 tax information for all customers as required by federal law
  • Update and maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, ensuring all customers agreements are electronically filed on DCCADV’s secure Finance drive

 

Manage Payroll

  • Collect and verify activity logs for all staff
  • Submit bi-weekly payroll to payroll provider
  • Enter payroll data in accounting system in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ensure staff time is allocated in compliance with budgetary guidelines
  • Ensure all logs are signed by both employee and supervisor
  • Update monthly leave, fringe, and bi-weekly retirement reports
  • Maintain and update payroll records and reconciliation reports
  • Research and resolve all payroll discrepancies
  • Reconcile activity logs to grant budgets at the end of the fiscal year

 

Other Assigned Duties

  • Review, prepare and file 1099 Tax-forms with the IRS on a timely basis
  • Oversee the maintenance and administration of petty cash
  • Prepare and record all receipts for deposits
  • Prepare and update depreciation and prepaid schedules
  • Provide account analysis and account reconciliation as needed
  • Prepare monthly management and financial reports, such as budget vs actual, receivables and payable reports
  • Perform other project and duties assigned

 

Related Skills and Experience

  • Minimum Qualifications include a 4-year College Degree, concentration in accounting, finance, or economics
  • At least three years of work experience in a professional accounting role
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the General Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of contracts/grant administration and monitoring
  • Knowledge of federal regulations related to grants at local, state, federal and foundation levels
  • Proactively problem-solves and effectively communicate with team members
  • Ability to compile, analyze, evaluate and interpret data and transactions
  • Familiar with accounting software, such as Quick Books, is preferred

·        Demonstrated agreement and comfort with addressing the Coalition’s collective work through a racial and social justice lens—DCCADV recognizes that in order to truly address and ultimately prevent domestic violence it is critical to address systemic and racial inequities

·        Demonstrated knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence (also referred to as intimate partner, gender-based, family violence and/or domestic terrorism), its prevalence, and community impact

Due to the current global pandemic, this position is currently a teleworking role. When more mobility and interaction is safe for everyone, the person filling this role must be willing and able to work in an office setting.
