Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Development Services, the Senior Manager, Development Services is responsible for leading comprehensive strategy on major donor reporting and analytics, drawing on data trends from prospecting, projection management, and fundraiser results to guide prospecting priorities across the national front line fundraising team. They will partner with fundraising leadership to establish and track revenue benchmarks on a state and national level.

The Senior Manager, Development Services works closely Finance, Finance Operations and IT teams to provide a cohesive data structure, creating and maintaining an in-depth reporting system focusing on financial and moves management targets. They are the lead subject matter expert in Fundraising for the Salesforce CRM and are responsible for designing, recommending and managing all systematic architectural improvements impacting major gift donors.

Essential Functions

  • Design and maintain the fundraising interface for the Audubon CRM, providing a cohesive, accurate and timely picture of donor information that directly informs front line fundraising prospect strategy. Spearhead the functionality and reliability for key fundraising data points in partnership with IT and Finance Operations to better steer and advise the fundraising plan across all contributed revenue points. 
  • Establish and lead the strategy for revenue reconciliations and goal tracking between National Development and Finance teams, ensuring accuracy and clarity on state and national revenue projections. Implement and guide the budget and forecasting process by acting as the liaison between Development and Finance leadership during all forecast and budgeting processes on both the donor and division level.
  • Highlight pivotal data trends found within reporting and analytics for the Development network for the Development leadership team, steering prioritization of resources and evaluating appropriate metrics for all front line fundraisers.
  • Function as the lynchpin between prospect and portfolio analysis and revenue results, working directly with Development leadership to identify areas for improvement in revenue and activity goals; directly support potential growth and the activation of key prospects across the donor pipeline.
  • Design and generate accurate gift and metrics reports on a biweekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. This includes, but is not limited to, generating analytics on current and historical Major Gift data for three National Board meetings annually, assisting with projection reports for the annual budget and two reforecasts, and providing analytics to the Development Leadership and Executive Teams.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and Administrator for Salesforce CRM, aligning and updating the system’s architectural structure to suit the needs of Audubon’s Development team across the country
  • Special projects as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, as well as a minimum 6-10 years working directly with donor data and/or information services at large, complex fundraising organizations. Must have comprehensive knowledge of current Development methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience managing best practices and business rules, creates fundraising reports for segmented audiences, maintains data hygiene, and manages a donor database.
  • Must have the ability to creatively problem solve, think strategically and to anticipate the impacts of decision-making across multiple departments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; must be able to effectively analyze, interpret, evaluate, and communicate simple and complex technical information to a non-technical audience. The ability to disseminate complex information and business rules to a wide audience with varying skill sets is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with other departments from a Development perspective, ideally, IT, Operations and Finance offices.
  • Strong project and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills; exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work with highly confidential information a must.
  • Required proficiency with MS Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Certified Salesforce Administrators preferred; Salesforce experience is required.
