Position Overview  


This role offers the opportunity to make a dramatic difference in the lives of immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers during this crucial time in the world and in our nation’s history.

The Program Manager (PM) is responsible for overseeing the team responsible for coaching newly arrived immigrants and refugees in their U.S. job search and ensuring that we meet our placement goals in this key UpGlo region.   The Program Manager will hire, train, coach and develop the D.C. program team and will support a small caseload of job seekers directly.  They will also work with local employers to educate them about this talent pool and oversee partnerships. This position will report to the Regional Program Director based in New York.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

·        Develop and manage team of Employment Services Associates (ESAs) to ensure superior performance, employee satisfaction/retention, and regional placement outcomes to meet program goals.

·        Manage the recruiting, onboarding and development of new local program staff

·        Will be a working manager - advising a proportionate group of job seekers with all aspects of ESA job search and placement

·        Oversee local intern program including hiring and training on a quarterly basis

·        Work closely with the DC area Development and Volunteer Program Manager and oversee their work in volunteer cultivation and volunteer events

·        Collaborate with the development team to cultivate, secure, and manage new Employer partnerships in the D.C. region

·        Work with national program team to ensure program alignment and collaborate on national projects

·        Provide back up support to the Program Director as needed


Knowledge and Skills Required

·        Bachelor’s degree in a related field required

·        3+ years of related work experience in coaching, workforce development, immigration, refugee services, recruiting, or human resources

·        1+ years of team management experience ideal

·        Excellent written and oral communication skills

·        Detail orientated and strong project management skills with an ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines

·        Database experience in Salesforce or similar CMS a plus

·        Strong coaching skills and cross-cultural sensitivity

·        A desire to make our D.C. office a fun, supportive, globally diverse and inspiring workplace


Work Environment/Physical Requirements

·        This is a largely sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear and see

·        Must be available to work in our downtown D.C. office

·        Requires the ability to travel locally, regionally and nationally

·        Must be available to work occasional evening events

·        Must have reliable transportation depending on region
