We are looking for a responsible, hardworking individual with good basic knowledge of how to maintain operating systems of an office building and its fleet of vehicles, trailers and boats, and how to maintain/landscape office grounds. This person will have the ability to perform light carpentry and electrical work, as well as the ability to operate various types of machinery such as lawnmowers, tractors, chainsaws and snow removal equipment. They will work alongside an energetic Stewardship team to maintain and monitor our portfolio of preserves. As a team member of the Adirondack Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, this individual will work closely with the Operations and Stewardship teams and will maintain good working relationships with the Chapter team members for small projects throughout the unit. The ability to be on top of all facets of this position is essential for keeping all moving parts running smoothly.
• High school diploma and 4 years’ direct
experience in applied mechanical
• Experience operating and/or repairing
various types of equipment and machinery.
(e.g.; lawn mower, chainsaw, tractor,
backhoe, bulldozer, dump truck, plow/snow
blowing equipment two-way radio, etc.).
• Experience working with electrical,
plumbing, welding, and concrete.
• Experience coordinating teams and
contractors to complete construction and
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or
cross-cultural experience appreciated
• Ability to perform physical work, sometimes
under adverse conditions or inclement
• Ability to complete tasks independently and
manage diverse activities under deadlines.
• Familiarity with computers, email, Microsoft
Word & Excel, and ability to use the internet.
