Repair the World is a national nonprofit dedicated to inspiring people to give their time and effort to serve those in need in their communities. Repair the World has operations in Miami, Baltimore, Detroit, New York City, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh to strengthen a culture of volunteering and service in the local community and beyond.


ROLE

Repair the World is seeking a Controller. The ideal person is a detail-oriented self-starter who oversees the timely and accurate financial processes and presentation of our financial records. This position will start off directly supervising the finance manager, and indirectly supervising the accounting assistant. This position is based in Repair’s New York office.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assume full responsibility for General Ledger and Accounts Receivables/Payables
  • Perform a timely and consistent month-end close process including preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Complete monthly account analysis process, including bank reconciliations, all monthly accruals, and adjusting journal entries
  • Preparation and maintenance of supporting schedules including depreciation, rent, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities
  • Plan and coordinate annual audit and tax return preparation with independent CPA firm
  • Ensure restricted and unrestricted grants are accounted for properly in accounting system and maintain accompanying schedules for restricted grants
  • Establish procedures and proactively implement changes to improve processes and gain efficiencies
  • Set and enforce internal control procedures
  • Manage banking relationships and daily/monthly cash flow
  • Work with internal departments to ensure budget and financial policy compliance


QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a senior accounting or financial management role
