The Associate Graphic Designer will collaborate with multiple departments to concept and design compelling communication materials for internal and external audiences, ensuring integration with overall marketing and brand strategy. Responsible for drafting, developing and producing a wide array of electronic and print media. These include internal documents and templates, posters, banners, web content and communication pieces, as well as edited photo and video assets.


This is a graphic design and production position, which requires coordinating with various types of vendors (requesting price quotes, placing orders, managing print jobs, etc.). Green Dot Public Schools is growing and this is a creative services team; the position requires the willingness and ability to take on a wide variety of marketing tasks in a fast-paced environment.



> Manage several concurrent projects for multiple stakeholders at once, from ideation through conception, design, and production.

> Serve as an evangelist for our mission, brand, and content through thought leadership, creativity, and design.

> Conceptualize and execute design solutions that are strategic, fresh, compelling, appropriate for our target audiences, consistent with Green Dot’s brand image, and raise the bar for design excellence.

> Produce graphic art and visual materials for various print and digital projects, including brochures, banners, posters, t-shirts, web assets, HTML emails, etc. as needed.

> Develop a system of branded templates for regional entities, schools, and individual programs.

> Illustrate icons, characters, mascots, and other material according to project specifications

> Edit photography according to the Green Dot brand standards, retouching and adding visual elements as needed.

> Provide design expertise and assists in marketing support for the entire organization.

> Curate, organize and maintain imagery and graphic elements for organization-wide use, in adherence with brand standards.

> Collaborate and contribute to the design process through participation in creative discussion, contributing input on the overall look of marketing materials, and seeking inspiration through research of design trends and key markets.

> Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize multiple projects in order to meet deadlines.

> Contribute to the marketing goals and objectives by ensuring tasks and projects are completed error free and on time.


This job operates in a professional office environment, is largely sedentary, and utilizes typical office equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.). Normal business hours are 8:30am – 5:30pm, Monday-Friday (although these hours may vary and may require occasional evening and weekend work based on organizational needs). Minimal or no travel required, other than visits to local school sites (as needed).



> Degree in Graphic Design/Multimedia/Communications Design, or equivalent.

> Minimum two years professional graphic design experience or professional training.

> Excellent eye for design, typography, color, visual composition and layout.

> Experience with multiple creative disciplines such as web design, photography and video editing preferred.

> Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat).

> Advanced knowledge of Mac platform / OS X required.

> Working knowledge of the printing process and specifications, including production and rendering methods, four-color printing process, digital production, and pre-press delivery formats.

> Thorough understanding of the design process, and working knowledge of digital photography and videography.

> Ability to work in a team environment, willing to work additional hours to meet set deadlines, and have strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

> Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Apps

> Must have a creative flair, originality and a strong visual sense, and must be able to present and explain ideas to colleagues.

> Must have a strong desire to learn and grow professionally

> Dependability, humility, sense of humor, and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve

> Must be able to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer
