Family Engagement Manager

 Adelante’s Family Engagement programming was created in response to the critical need for strength-based, high quality, culturally responsive essential involvement of families. The Family Engagement Component focuses on collaborative relationship-based curriculum with empowerment activities where families receive respectful, caring and positive involvement opportunities to develop their leadership skills and become active advocates of their children. We honor and support the parent-child relationships through our two-generation programing that encourages children and parent learning together. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

As the leader of the Family Engagement Team, the Family Engagement Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of the parent and family involvement programing of the Education Programs at Adelante Mujeres. The Family Engagement Manager ensures and promotes collaborative relationships between staff, children, and families through a culturally responsive curriculum that will ensure sharing of strengths and abilities to support children and families’ goal achievement. The Manager assures that the Family Engagement staff work as a team to provide high quality parenting education programing to support parents in their important role as their children’ first teacher. The Manager works in collaboration with Adelante Staff, partners and parents in implementing the vision and daily operations of the program in compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and practices. The ideal candidate will be inspired by and fully committed to Adelante Mujeres’ vision and mission, and have a history of working with young children, teachers and families. The Manager reports to the Director of Education Programs. 

• Lead Family Engagement Programing assuring the parenting needs and strengths of our families by creating and promoting collaboration among staff, children, and families 
• Plan, lead and monitor daily operations of the Family Engagement programing in all our Education Programs (Early Childhood, Adult and Youth) in coordination with Program Managers and staff 
• Lead the recruitment, training, mentoring, and supervision of the Family Engagement staff 
• Supervise, manage, coach and mentor staff  
• Promote high quality parenting and family engagement educational opportunities for our families in all programs  
• Use a lens based on diversity, equity, and inclusion in all planning of services for parenting education and engagement. 
• Maintain confidence and protect program operations 
• Actively and professionally represent Adelante Mujeres on local and regional parenting educational advisory groups 
• Provide emergency services as a Mandatory First Responder 
• Lead the development and delivery of plans of action that support Adelante Mujeres strategic plan goals and objectives  
• In collaboration with Family Engagement, ECE, and Adult Education staff, ensures program data collection, analysis, and needed curriculum adjustments 
• Create high quality reports for grants, funders, and stakeholders 

Qualifications and Experience:

• BA Degree in Adult Education, Elementary Education or strongly related field and 3 years of experience working with diverse families, or AA Degree in ECE and Families Studies and 5 years of work experience with children, teachers and families 
• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience 
• Current Food Handler’s Card, CPR/First Aid, Criminal background registry under Office of Childcare 
• Bilingual-Bicultural Spanish/English with great communication, and writing/reading skills 
• Passionate about engagement of parents/families, education, social justice, diversity, and women’s empowerment 
• Enjoy working with and be sensitive to the needs of low income, diverse, and minority families  
• Ability to think and plan strategically and execute operationally  
• Coaching and mentoring skills for team building, leadership and supervisor development  
• Ability to manage emergencies and support the resolution of conflicts and crises    
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, including strong spelling, grammar, and proofing   
• Strong initiative and reliability  
• Strong time management capabilities   

SALARY & BENEFITS: 

• Salary range: $46,000 - $52,000 depending on qualifications  
• Full-time, exempt 
• Telework: primarily during pandemic, up to 2 days a week after pandemic  
• Benefits: health, vision, dental, long-term disability and life insurance – all 100% employer paid; professional development opportunities; paid holidays (11.5 days annually); sick days (up to 12 days annually); paid family leave; and vacation (20 days years one through five, 25 days after five years)
