Description

Verité is a growing, award-winning non-profit organization that illuminates and addresses serious human rights and labor rights violations in factories, farms and other workplaces around the world. We serve private sector and public-sector clients by building understanding of the labor rights problems faced by workers in supply chains and operations, and enhancing the skills and capacities of stakeholders to solve those problems.


The Program Assistant will support projects for Verité’s Research and Policy Department including projects focused on promoting safe and fair labor migration, and combating child labor, forced labor and human trafficking; and will contribute to development of project research, reports and other outputs such as digital tools, as assigned.

 

Tasks and specific responsibilities


  • Conduct desk research as well as cleaning and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data relevant to labor and human rights as assigned;  
  • Write and edit accurate and unbiased reports on labor practices drawing on publicly available information as well as research provided by Verité field teams;
  • Edit written materials, applying the Verité style guide for reports and publications;  
  • Contribute to development of project outputs, reports or digital tools as assigned;  
  • Assist Project Directors to develop project plans into scopes of work, workflows, timelines, and discrete deliverables, and track implementation of same;  
  • Create and maintain project documentation, liaise with organizational record-keeping systems, and liaise with Verité staff to ensure appropriate resource allocations;  
  • Assist in overseeing the implementation of project workplans, proactively communicate with program staff and field teams to ensure timely project delivery;  
  • Assist in oversight for tasks assigned to interns, consultants, research teams, and other staff;  
  • Assist in coordination of day-to-day project operations and logistics for project-oriented activities as assigned, such as events, face-to-face or remote meetings, including some international convenings and coordination of staff travel;  
  • Assist in preparation of client/donor-ready communications, emails;  
  • Monitor and track email and phone communications and scheduling contact with project partners and stakeholders;  
  • Occasional travel (both domestic and international are possible), and pre-planned work outside regular hours to support coordination of special project activities;  
  • Assist in and coordinate the development of new project proposals.  


Qualifications for this position


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience  
  • Demonstrated facility with coordinating complex communications  
  • Ability to communicate and maintain professional relationships with high-level clients or donors in a non-profit or business environment  
  • Demonstrated facility with use of logic models and tools for tracking project implementation   
  • Ability to learn and utilize project management software and platforms  
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office package, with at least intermediate Excel skills  
  • Demonstrated excellent judgement, ability to anticipate needs, identify challenges and propose solutions  
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural context  
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills  
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple demands  
  • Self-driven and able to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment  
  • Excellent English language writing and editing skills  
  • Capability in a second language desired but not required
  • Working full time at Verité’s office located in Amherst Massachusetts is required
  • Readiness to start on or before October 31, 2018 preferred
