Description

The Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County (LASSMC) seeks an intake coordinator for a six-month full-time position with the Peninsula Family Advocacy Program (FAP). A medical-legal partnership with Lucile Packard Children's Hospital/Stanford Children's Health, Ravenswood Family Health Center, and San Mateo Medical Center Clinics, FAP provides free legal services to children with special needs and pregnant women and their families to help address the underlying causes of poor health. LASSMC (www.legalaidsmc.org) is a dynamic and collegial non-profit law firm whose mission is to fight social injustice through civil legal advocacy for people living in poverty.


Responsibilities:


--Call referrals to screen for legal issues and make appointments as needed

--Create files, maintain database, enter information for case management and grant purposes

--Perform routine clerical tasks

--Support attorney staff with interpretation as needed


Required:


--B.A. Degree

--Oral Spanish proficiency

--Excellent communication skills

--Data entry experience

--Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint

--Ability to pass background check (fingerprinting required)


Preferred:


--The ideal applicant is detail oriented, compassionate, and has some experience in education or government benefits law.

--Highly motivated, energetic, self-starter who cares about health care access and wants to work with a diverse, low-income client population.

--Bi-cultural background/experience

--Experience working with community-based organizations


Salary: $20/hour
