The DC Fiscal Policy Institute (DCFPI) is seeking a talented and dedicated Revenue Organizer to support a District-level campaign, “Just Recovery DC,” to raise revenue to advance racial justice, meet a spike in human and community needs, and build an inclusive economic recovery. This position will work with DCFPI colleagues and external Just Recovery partners to mount a proactive campaign that includes Council advocacy, base building (outreach, recruitment and engagement) among individuals and organizations, and strategic communications.

The DC Fiscal Policy Institute promotes DC budget and policy decisions to win systemic change—through new policies and challenging existing ones as part of a movement towards tax, economic, educational, housing, and racial justice. We have a proven track record of successfully advocating for the fundamentals that everyone in our city deserves. Whether it’s testifying before the DC Council, bringing diverse advocacy groups together, or conducting thorough, independent research, we work to tell the story of what’s really happening in DC’s economy. DCFPI is the leading independent source of information on the DC budget and how the city’s resources are spent. We pinpoint how the lives of DC residents are affected by tax and budget decisions and hold policymakers accountable for those decisions. We are a vital resource to other nonprofits, are trusted and respected by DC policymakers, and are frequently cited in the media. Our proposals often become reality and make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents across the city.

The ideal candidate has some experience working on an issue campaign and is a coalition builder, strategist, and deep believer in the importance of tax justice and fair budgets. The position will report to and work closely with DCFPI’s Policy Director, and they will work with DCFPI colleagues and Just Recovery partners. They will be responsible for helping the revenue campaign execute a comprehensive, strategic campaign plan. This position will help create a steady drum beat of progress while facilitating base building, coordinating advocacy and public education with Just Recovery partners, and organizing direct actions and other tactics.
