Bottomless Closet is a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to inspire and guide disadvantaged New York City women to enter the workforce and achieve success. Comprehensive services include the selection and provision of high quality interview attire, 1:1 resume review/preparation and interview coaching, as well as a broad workshop curriculum that promotes professional development, financial management and personal enrichment. We facilitate entrance into the workforce, build core competencies for workplace success, increase self-confidence and self-esteem, and transform women’s vision of their potential. Our clients come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, including women who are on public assistance, formerly incarcerated, single mothers, domestic violence survivors, and women living in shelters. To date, we have helped over 30,000 clients by providing our services free of charge in order to help them on their path to self-sufficiency.

 

ABOUT THE POSITION: The goal of the Operations Department is to ensure that the boutique and back inventory rooms are organized and racks are filled with the appropriate clothing we need to outfit our clients. We do this by managing the constant influx of donations with the help of a core of volunteers to ensure that all clothing is sorted cataloged and distributed. There is no average day for this role as we are in this is a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide inventory management and office administration support and assistance to the Bottomless Closet Operations Department.

 

ADMINISTRATION & FACILITIES

·        Oversight of general office space; ensure it is organized and presentable; duties include:

  • Performing general facilities maintenance; trash removal, vacuuming, dusting, etc.
  • Organizing storage rooms and closets
  • Promptly communicating supply and inventory needs to the Office Coordinator
  • Accept deliveries; route to appropriate staff member
  • Organize and pack supplies for upcoming offsite events

 

INVENTORY MAINTENANCE

·        Maintain the boutique and stock inventory spaces neat and organized

·        Assist with receipt of incoming clothing donations, coordination of curbside donations, incorporation of donations into existing inventory, and disposal of excess packaging, boxes and trash

·        Visually identify gaps in inventory, fill gaps as inventory becomes available; communicate all needs to Operations Director

·        Assess when stock needs to be moved offsite and work with Office Coordinator to prepare boxes to be picked up by storage company.

 

Other projects and responsibilities as requested by the Operations Director.

 

The Operations & Inventory Assistant reports directly to the Operations Director. 

 

SCHEDULE

This role is to be performed on a part-time basis (20 hours per week). Specific hours will be determined by the Operations Director.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·        Previous experience in a retail environment, distribution center and/or warehouse environment preferred, but not required

·        custodial experience preferred but not required

·        Ability to follow directions closely, multi-task, work independently, prioritize and accomplish a variety of tasks, projects and responsibilities simultaneously in a busy work environment

·        Strong interpersonal skills, professional manner; friendly, helpful, customer service oriented, sense of humor a plus

·        Flexibility to work periodic evenings and occasional weekends

·        Microsoft Office skills a plus

·        Physical demands include heavy lifting – up to 50 lbs, bending, reaching and moving inventory from boutique to basement storage room, and often times standing for long periods of time
