Give an Hour™ (GAH), a national nonprofit providing free mental health services to military personnel and their families, is seeking a Program Manager based in the Washington, DC area to manage the Give an Hour DC Project as Give an Hour expands our efforts to address the mental health needs of other populations outside the military community. The Project Manager will oversee project operations on a daily basis, will conduct outreach to organizations, government entities, provider clinics, and other stakeholders, and will use group venues to present to and coordinate with clinicians and stakeholders in Washington, DC. This role will also be responsible for reporting, compliance, and completion of the project’s goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

Grant-specific tasks

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.      Directs the creation of a private social media support infrastructure, then populates it with a diverse bank of high quality, well-trained clinicians serving the project’s intended target clientele without cost to the clients

2.      Directs contractor to map District-wide relevant responses and services, coordinating closely through the development process and production of the final report by Month 5 of the project

3.      Directs field assessment firm in the development of a plan for conducting a District-wide trauma assessment of youth and adult District of Columbia residents


Community Support


Duties and Responsibilities:

1.      Represents Give an Hour at community meetings

2.      Establishes and cultivates local partner relationships

3.      Supports Give an Hour Provider Management Team in local recruitment outreach

4.      Educates the community through formal presentations and staffing information tables


Administrative tasks


Duties and Responsibilities:

1.      Responds to emails in a timely and professional manner

2.      Attends and contributes to staff calls with pertinent project updates

3.      Assists supervisor and management with resolution of problems

4.      Conducts special assignments as requested


Position Requirements

·      MA-level degree in psychology, counseling, social work, public health, or cognates preferred. BA/BS degree with commensurate level of expertise in community organizing, behavioral health counseling

·      3 – 5 years of experience in the development and management of support infrastructures serving the mental health needs of underserved populations, as well as evidencing leadership and execution ability in accomplishing goals and objectives of significant projects in the non-profit mental health services arena

·      Residence in or near Washington, DC


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

·      Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

·      Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to compose correspondence with a high degree of professionalism including punctuation, spelling and grammar

·      Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work

·      Ability to maintain confidentiality on all levels and at all times

·      Ability to deliver excellent customer service while maintaining composure and professionalism

·      Attention to detail and ability to multi-task

·      Understanding of virtual office practices and procedures

·      Ability to work in a virtual environment with minimal supervision

·      Ability to complete work within specified timeframes

·      Ability to effectively work independently, as well as, contribute as a team member in a collaborative environment


Position Elements  

·      This is a virtual position, but may require up to 20% travel

·      This position will report directly to the Director of New Populations

·      This position has no supervisory role

·      This position has no budgetary responsibilities and no independent funding authority; incumbent will request appropriate funding through immediate supervisor

·      This position has no human resources responsibilities and no hiring authority
