As the network’s largest partner, AFS-USA works to increase the global competency of U.S. citizens by providing a variety of international and intercultural learning experiences to individuals, families, schools, and communities. We are proud of our Staff from our national office in New York City as well as home offices across the county, who collaborate with our more than 2,000 AFS-USA Volunteers to deliver high quality programs and global education resources. These include immersion-based study abroad experiences in over 40 countries worldwide; opportunities to host foreign AFS exchange students; and global learning workshops and curricula for educators, schools and businesses.

    Travel and Logistics Assistants are responsible for assisting in various in-office and on-site (airports and hotels) assignments related to the departure and arrival of thousands of exchange students. This position requires individuals who can happily balance the dynamics of working in a team-based environment as well as thrive in their assignments. Strong candidates should have the ability to work well under pressure, work long hours, think critically, adapt to frequent in-office and on-site changes with effective communication to staff, volunteers, and students.

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create and update travel schedules
    • Reconfirm return international travel arrangements
    • Coordinate ticket distribution with AFS participants, host families and volunteers.
    • Arrange accommodations for arriving groups
    • Meet AFS students at airports (New York or Chicago)
    • Data entry of travel information
    • Generate reports via online database (Report Builder/Power BI)

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Passionate for working in an international study abroad environment
    • Ability or experience working in a remote environment
    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends
    • Ability to follow detailed instructions
    • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Word and Excel
    • Process and track special travel requests.
    • Experience with training and working with Volunteers
    • Ability to speak a second language is ideal but not required

    WORK EXPECTATIONS:

    The Regional Travel and Logistics Assistant works Monday – Friday, 9AM – 5PM EST. However, you may work a schedule outside of these hours dependent on the needs of your department. There will be times when hours will be altered due to seasonal fluctuations in workload and will include overtime, evening, and occasional weekend work. The expected start date for this position is mid-March continuing for approximately 6 months. You must be available for the entire duration of the season.

    We are currently hiring for 3 position openings – two positions in the NYC area and one position in Chicago. This position will be a combination of remote work and in office as needed if based in the NYC area.

    SALARY:

    • The compensation for this position is $18/hourly. This position is eligible for overtime pay and sick & safe leave.
