The Bilingual Counselor Advocate works with individuals and groups and reports to the Director of Counseling & EsperanzaCT.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Experience of progressive professional responsibility and service delivery in the area of domestic/dating violence. Experience in counseling with adults and children in Spanish and English and a strong understanding of the dynamics and effects of interpersonal trauma are required.
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Conduct support groups in English and Spanish mornings and evenings
  • Answering hotline calls, EsperanzaCT hotline calls, A-Questions through ECT website
  • Medical Advocacy at the local hospitals  
  • The candidates must be proficient in typing and familiar with using client based data systems.
  • Strong writing skills are required  
  • Do presentations to social organizations in the community regarding domestic violence education and information and the impact of violence on adults and children.


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
  • Bachelors in counseling or social work required, Masters preferred
  • 3 years of experience required
  • Group work experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability on Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Valid CT driver's license required
