KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Annual Budget

·        Own the annual budgeting process: manage a team to collect, analyze, and consolidate financial data from 80+ budget centers and affiliated entities to produce the annual corporate budget

·        Project manage the consolidation of all financial data; set the timeline, anticipate milestones and deliverables, lead all outgoing communications

·        Synthesize budget proposals into digestible components for executive leadership and board review; prepare slide decks and summary materials

·        Prepare historical trend analysis to substantiate budget proposals

·        Run scenario analysis to evaluate multiple outcomes based on different sets of assumptions

·        Prepare written materials, including slide decks, email templates, internal policy documents, and board memos

Forecasting

·        Develop and maintain monthly financial forecast of unrestricted activity; distill trends and variances from budget; monitor spend and make informed recommendations on where to adjust throughout the year

·        Own quarterly reforecasting process; collect and consolidate financial information across all budget centers and affiliate entities to produce updated forecasts throughout the year

·        Oversee the building and maintenance of a rolling forecast of future company performance, with assumptions that align with strategic plan

·        Perform variance analysis on budget vs. reforecast vs. actuals; assess and explain changes in net assets and net worth

·        Prepare business unit profitability analysis

·        Other ad hoc reports as necessary

Personnel Planning

·        Work with the highest level of discretion on extremely sensitive information

·        Responsible for ensuring the accurate flow of information between payroll platform (ADP) and budgeting and financial reporting tool (Vena)

·        Responsible for all personnel planning as part of the budget process, including budgeted merit increases

·        Create personnel dashboard with relevant KPIs and trend analysis; update monthly

·        Review and approve all new hire proposals to ensure alignment with budget; raise exceptions with manager

Grant and Recoverable Grant Activity

·        Review proposed grant budgets on all new $1M+ private grant opportunities; ensure sufficient coverage for program and national staff and alignment with written guidance and policy

·        Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that indirect rates on private grants and government contracts are assessed and in line with written guidance and policy

·        Approve new recoverable grants that do not meet the threshold for LISC credit committee but warrant further scrutiny due to their outlying nature

·        Produce and deliver presentations/webinars on a variety of financial topics to both internal and external audiences.

Reporting tools

·        Achieve fluency in Vena, LISC’s budgeting and financial reporting tool, and Domo, a tool that LISC uses to share field- and budget center-level reports

·        Project manage the creation of new Vena and Domo reports and templates as needed, in collaboration with key stakeholders in IT, Accounting and Field Excellence

·        Oversee and recommend modifications to Vena and Domo workflow and processes as needed

Management

Lead a team whose roles support the above responsibilities and others, including:

·        Local program budgeting and reforecasting

·        Financial covenant analysis

·        Financial budgeting, forecasting, and modeling for LISC Fund Management

·        Asset-liability modeling

·        Loan structuring and pricing for the Bay’s Future Fund

·        All technical aspects of Domo

·        Ad-hoc report creation and analysis

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, finance, economics, accounting, or related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.

·        Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting or FP&A, especially in the field of community development finance, is required.

·        Fluency in financial statement analysis, consolidating and synthesizing financial information, and financial modeling.

·        Demonstrated ability to leverage financial accounting systems and reporting platforms.

·        Prior experience owning the budget process for a complex organization.

·        Ability to synthesize complex financial concepts for presentations.

·        Excellent financial analytical skills. Deep understanding of financial models for borrowing and lending funds.

·        Vision, energy, excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, and excellent interpersonal skills.

·        Experience leading cross-team efforts with staff not in one’s direct reporting line.

·        Ability to achieve a desired outcome, marshal the necessary financial resources, and manage the process to completion.

·        Solution-oriented individual who is self-directed, and able to successfully balance multiple priorities and programs. Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively.

·        High degree of attention to detail and ability to manage towards competing deadlines.

·        A commitment to help community residents transform distressed neighbors into healthy, safe sustainable communities of choice and opportunity.

·        Excellent judgment, integrity, and professionalism.

·        Fluency in Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required.
