Program Summary:

This position is the key individual in leading the following efforts for all assigned programs within the global operations finance team’s initiatives.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Support monthly and annual close cycle and project management, ensuring that deadlines are met, with the ability to review results of the closing process and generate corrections as necessary and post close activities such as reporting, reconciliations, and the monthly projection process.
2. Analyze accounts, projects, financials, documentation, country compliance, procurement, reporting, and proposals for assigned regions and field sites to ensure that expenditures comply with the award document and related regulations.
3. Prepare required funder reports, ad hoc reports, and invoices in accordance with funder requirements.
4. Assist with the Single Audit, various Internal and External Audits, and Compliance by providing complete support in samples, reporting, and analyzing as necessary.
5. Initiate and process new project set-up, grant management database, wires and payments, and filing (electronically and paper format).
6. Prepare various budgets for project, department, region, etc. for upload and reporting in financial system, working with the Headquarters and Field teams.
7. Support the Global Operations Finance team as backups, training, supporting the field offices, and emergency response.
8. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. BA/BS in Accounting required or equivalent years of experience.
2. Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in general ledger, financial accounting, preferably not-for-profit and/or government funding.
3. Understanding of and experience with federal financial compliance, contracting, and auditing requirements as detailed in the Code of Federal Regulations Circulars is required. Experience in an international setting is preferred.
4. Must have intermediate level knowledge of Excel (pivot table, look-up), ability to use large scale automated accounting systems, knowledge of QuickBooks a plus.
5. Direct experience in performing and reviewing fund and account balance reconciliations as well as preparing and reviewing ledger entries, adjustments, and accruals.
6. Experience in preparing materials for and responding to end-of-year audits.
7. Ability to adhere to accounting and reporting procedures and policies to ensure proper financial control and data integrity.
8. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
9. Experience in preparing and/or reviewing financial statements, including variance analysis, as well as the ability to explain these to persons with little financial acumen.
10. Ability to work well under pressure, organize and set priorities, meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
11. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral, in working with inter-departmental staff and well as funders.
