Job Description:

Event Assistant needed for nonprofit organization, WriteGirl (www.writegirl.org). We are seeking part-time on-call support for events and administrative activities. Duties may include, but are not necessarily limited to, preparation for events, phone and email communication, data entry, research, running errands, tracking inventory, transporting and setting up event materials, light manual labor such as lifting and moving boxes of books, and more. All events and meetings are currently online, due to COVID, but will return to in-person when safe to do so.


This is an on-call position with hours scheduled in advance for two weeks at a time. Scheduled hours vary, depending on our event schedule and may include weekday daytime or evening hours. Must also have availability for Saturday events, usually 1 - 2 Saturdays monthly. While this position currently is largely a remote position, event assistants currently work one day per week at our downtown LA office, with COVID safety protocols in place, as the only person in the office. Other hours are currently remote from home. When in-person events resume, they will be held in Downtown LA, Pasadena, Glendale, and other locations around the greater Los Angeles area. 


Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong business writing skills
  • Excellent phone and video conferencing skills
  • Proficient in computer skills (email, Google Suite, internet research, Zoom)
  • Proactiveness, strong attention to detail and adaptable in a fast-paced environment 
  • Reliable car and insurance
  • Some previous administrative and/or event planning experience preferred
  • Strong interest in supporting inclusion, diversity, equity and access, which are the foundations of all of our programming and operations
  • Strong interest in supporting the creative programs we deliver through event and administrative tasks
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing needs and requirements

WriteGirl (www.writegirl.org) is a creative writing and mentoring organization for underserved high school girls. Our mission is to help girls develop self-confidence and communication skills through writing relationships and workshops with women writers. Founded in 2001, WriteGirl is dedicated to using writing as a powerful force for positive social change.
