Background: The Workhouse Arts Foundation, Inc. (WAF) is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation with a mission to operate the Workhouse Arts Center (opening in 2008) with programs in the visual arts, performing arts, arts education, and history through the repurposing of the former Workhouse correctional facility. WAF’s budget is currently $3 million annually.
Summary Statement: This contract is for fiscal year 2023, ending on June 30, 2023, with the possibility to renew for an additional twelve months depending on Contractor performance. Renewal will be at the discretion of the Organization and is contingent upon Contractor’s fulfillment of the Contract and available funding received or committed to the Organization in support of Workhouse Military in the Arts Initiative (WMAI).
Scope of Work:
Reporting to the Education Program Director, the role of the Art Therapist Contractor is to conceptualize, plan, coordinate, implement, and oversee the Workhouse Arts Foundation’s Art Therapy program within the WMAI. The duties and responsibilities of the Contractor shall include:
Hours will vary and remain flexible depending on WAF meetings, client meetings, workshops, and group sessions. It is expected that the Contractor will work 40 hours weekly. Contractor is expected to conduct job duties on site at the Workhouse Arts Center. The Contractor may be permitted to work remotely up to eight hours per week with supervisor pre-approval.

Experience and Education
Accountabilities: Satisfactory completion of this job will be evidenced by excellent attention to detail; exercising sound professional judgement; building and maintaining good working relationships with staff, artists and other colleagues; keeping excellent records; working well as a team member; and by operating within the Workhouse approved budget.
Compensation/Benefits:
The Contractor will be paid $45,000 for the one-year commitment, with an hourly rate of $21.63 per hour, totaling no more than $3,750 per month. The Contractor will be paid monthly, with payment being made once the Contractor submits an invoice to the Director of Education and it is approved for payment. The invoice must include the number of hours worked each week for the month billed.
The Contractor is not eligible to participate in any fringe benefits or retirement programs, including Paid Time Off, Medical, Dental, and staff discounts on Organization events, tickets and classes, or any other benefit currently afforded to salary or hourly staff members. The Organization does not withhold federal or state taxes or make F.I.C.A. payments for Contract employees. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to pay taxes to applicable government entities. It is understood that the Contractor shall not be reimbursed for any expenses associated with the Contract work performed.
The Contractor understands that this contract does not imply or entitle Contractor to any permanent or full-time employment in the future.
