The ICCT seeks a highly motivated and committed Fellow who will contribute their energy and creativity towards research to shape the global technology transition in the heavy-duty vehicle sector. This fellowship is your chance to work at the intersection of vehicle technology, economics, and public policy. Representative work can be seen on the ICCT's Heavy-duty Vehicles Program page.

This 12-month fellowship, based in our San Francisco, CA or Washington, D.C. office is best suited for someone with inventiveness, creativity, resourcefulness, and curiosity, and also willing to work hard and learn fast.

You Will:

  • Perform high-quality quantitative research to help develop local, regional, and national regulations addressing on-road trucks and buses
  • Perform quantitative analyses of datasets
  • Author or co-author blogs, briefing papers, memos, working papers, and white papers to communicate research findings and policy implications
  • Review and summarize technical and scientific literature
  • Prepare presentations and present findings in public forums, such as workshops and conferences, and in private forums, such as invite-only stakeholder meetings and policymaker briefings
  • Help organize outreach activities, such as briefings, meetings, and workshops
  • Engage with external stakeholders including government officials, policymakers, NGOs, academic experts, or industry partners
  • Review other colleagues' and consultants' work on projects

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, or related technical field; master's or other graduate-level degree is a plus
  • Interest or experience investigating the climate, energy, and health impacts of the transport sector, on-road freight sector, or vehicle technologies
  • Experience collecting, critically analyzing, and drawing insights from data
  • Experience creating and using analytical models
  • Strong English language skills, both written and verbal; strong interpersonal communication skills are also expected
  • Experience working in teams and a collaborative research environment
  • Work, study, or extended travel experience outside of the United States is preferred

Our Benefits:

This is a full-time, temporary position (40 hours/week) for 12 months based in the Washington, D.C. or San Francisco office. This position includes health insurance and paid time off. The fellowship provides a salary of $22–$30/ hour (DC) and $24–$33/hour (SF) depending on education and experience. You will not receive visa sponsorship.
