Organizational Background and Overview

MRPA launched in April 2014 and has since become a vibrant membership of a new organization to address the needs of low wage workers, students, and immigrants in the Latinx community in Eastern Pennsylvania. In November 2015, MRPA opened its first Organizing Center in Reading, PA. Since our founding just four years ago, MRPA has opened new centers in Allentown and Scranton, and become one of the leading community organizations in the state. In Reading and Allentown, MRPA has several issue engagement committees where members discuss and develop campaigns around immigration, education, economic justice, healthcare, LGBTQ justice and more. MRPA has established itself as a community organizing force throughout Eastern Pa. We host regular workshops, rallies, and protests, and secure significant coverage from local print, radio and television media. Currently we average roughly 700 individual participants a month in our activities.
