Through a wide range of free programs and workshops, we support parents and caregivers as they build child development skills. As the city’s second-largest nonprofit contractor, with an annual budget of over $100 million, we are a major stakeholder in the child care system. POSITION SUMMARY

The Health and Nutrition Manager works in partnership with early childhood education programs and a range of community stakeholders to design and implement programs and supports that build caregivers’ capacity to provide all children with a healthy start. The Manager works with a team to oversee and expand our health and nutrition-related work, including the United States Department of Agriculture Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP),the Healthy Apple Program, and food security interventions designed to improve access to and availability of healthy food and to support child care programs’ efforts to promote health and wellness and establish life‐long healthy habits for children in their care.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all aspects of the Health and Nutrition department, including assessing needs, goal-setting and program-design, budgeting, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Manage and inspire direct reports and peers to explore innovative solutions to achieve agency and programmatic goals.
  • Work in collaboration with Program Directors and Advancement to establish fundraising goals and articulate a vision for program expansion.
  • Identify and formalize new programming in conjunction with other teams, departments, and partners.
  • Oversee project implementation such as planning, financial and logistical management of activities.
  • Maintain strong communication and partnership with funders and community partners to identify funding and advocacy opportunities that lead to increased support for nutrition and physical activity programming.
  • Nurture the development of a continuous improvement culture that advances the ideals of diversity equity and inclusion; streamline and coordinate services across departments to improve clients’ experience and increase the quality and value of our programming
  • Analyze service utilization and develop high-quality feedback loops to assess progress, impact, and the success of programs.
  • Keep abreast of new developments and evolving best practices related to nutrition and early childhood education.
  • Contribute to cross-team and organizational-wide efforts to achieve shared strategic goals.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years’ experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated success managing programs and teams
  • Experience being responsive to and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders and creatively improving systems.
  • Experience with grant writing, budgeting and evaluation for government contracting.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage and coordinate diverse stakeholders and community leaders.
  • Flexibility to work some evening/weekend hours.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with nutrition, health, or early childhood education preferred.
  • A background clearance is required

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to move throughout the office, access files, meet with clients and community stakeholders.
  • Requires the mental acuity to perform the essential functions as outlined in an accurate and timely fashion.
