ProVeg is a food awareness organisation with the mission to reduce global animal consumption by 50% by the year 2040. We are active in eight countries across four continents and growing rapidly. Role summary

The International Major Gifts and Development Manager will be responsible for the acquisition and management of relationships with potential major donors in Europe, maintaining relationships with existing stakeholders and major donors and representing ProVeg as an international organisation. In addition, we are also looking for a Major Gifts and Development Manager for the US!

Reports to: Head of Development, International CEO

Department: Fundraising and Supporter Engagement

Location: Can work remotely or from one of our ProVeg offices (Berlin, Almere, Madrid, Warsaw)

Hours: 40 h per week (flexible hours may be considered)


​Development planning

  • In conjunction with the CEO and Head of Fundraising, develop and implement a 3-year major gift development and cultivation strategy
  • Develop a forecast for income and expenditure and take full responsibility for the management and control of these budgets
  • Develop fundraising capacity in ProVeg offices by supporting Country Directors and advising on their income generation strategies
  • Ensure that any development activity is underpinned by appropriate analysis of assumptions and risk
  • Ensure that all funds are correctly handled and that all development activities follow established good practice and are operated in adherence with charity law
  • Keep abreast of tax law, finance and current trends in philanthropy

Major Gifts development

  • Research and prepare approaches to potential major donors including corporate contacts
  • Clear communication of ProVeg's strategy and goals to high net worth donors
  • Acquisition and build relationships with potential major donors in Europe and maintain relationships with existing donors
  • Identify and develop processes and systems to support the growth of major donor income
  • Identify suitable projects within the organization’s plan to build cases for support and wish lists for donors
  • Ambition to make a significant contribution to the financial growth of ProVeg International
  • Support the management of stakeholders and influencers  
  • Donor relationship management and representing ProVeg as a brand and its value system


Knowledge, skills and experience

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in communication/economics/marketing
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience within the charity sector or a similar professional environment
  • Proven track record and significant success in the acquisition and support of major donors
  • Expertise in development of social investment strategies and offers
  • Strong research skills, creative and concise report writing and project management
  • Excellent organisational skills, including documentation of all work, drafting reports for Senior Management and continuous improvement and management of ProVeg International income generating activities
  • Detailed knowledge of developments in the field of major donors and social investors

  • Strong personal credibility and clout required for persuasive dialogue with major donors in person and in writing
  • Distinct ability to inspire and convince people

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including effective listening, objection handling and negotiation skills
  • Thorough knowledge of a diverse range of preferences, lifestyles and social milieu trends among high net worth individuals
