The Liberty LEADS Program (LLP) at Bank Street College is a college access/success program serving students throughout New York City. We offer a comprehensive program and a wide range of resources for students in grades 5 through 12, Monday through Saturday, for 11 months of the year. Liberty LEADS works to ensure that urban youth with few economic resources have access to the supports necessary to realize their potential, make positive contributions to society, and smoothly make the transition into college or an entry-level career. The program is guided by the principle that all children have gifts, talents, and great potential and can contribute to one another's social and academic growth.

Liberty LEADS seeks an energetic qualified College Success Adviser to join our team. We are looking for someone who will be committed to improving the lives of our students and families. The College Adviser will play a vital role in our community providing direct service to the LLP families and students as well as engaging in administrative and supervisory tasks. Working as a member of the Liberty LEADS program team, the College Success Advisor works closely with 11th, 12th grades and or recent alumni to ensure they are on track to have an on time high school graduation and success in college and the workforce

Working as a member of a team in LLP the College Success will report directly to the Director. Responsibilities include the following,


• Counsel students/families on academic issues and conduct outreach services for students and families

• Monitor student participation and progress by overseeing attendance, observing students in LL classes and maintaining ongoing communication with students and families via phone contact, email and if necessary, school/home visits

• Create individual high school and college preparation plan for students and monitor student progress toward meeting goals

• Develop alternative professional preparation plan for students entering workforce directly from high school

• Collaborate with Liberty LEADS staff to arrange career fairs, speakers, and college tours.

• Maintain communication with school administrators and update parents on students’ progress in LL program

• Assess students’ needs for tutoring and refer students for additional services as needed

• Design appropriate workshops and classes to help students with specific academic obstacles (i.e. time management, Regent’s prep, CUNY entrance exams, etc.)

• Oversee all aspects of Saturday and after school academic/recreational/enrichment classes and events for high school students.

• Plan and implement the after school program and Saturday program for high school students

• Recruit, interview, hire, train, and supervise HS grade instructors

• Research college/university admissions criteria and develop relationships with opportunity programs

• Attend weekend leadership retreats for students

• Assist students with the college search and application processes

• Monitor and support the matriculation of Liberty LEADS graduates into their first year of college

• Assist with the preparation of reports to New York State Educational Department and other funders

• Attend weekly staff meetings


  • Must be bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Master’s degree in education or related field preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with high school and college students
  • Familiarity with college application and transfer process
  • Weekends required
