Program Summary: The Communications department is a newly formed department at WithinReach, which makes it an exciting time to join and create this team, as we are laying the groundwork and foundation for strengthening the agency’s messaging, visuals, identity and overall brand. The goal of this department is to increase awareness of WithinReach’s unique knowledge and ability to improve health outcomes for families in Washington State. 

Position Summary: This role will perform a variety of duties to support the Communications Manager and programs of WithinReach. This position will help with the development and execution of WithinReach’s communication strategies, tactics and priorities.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Assist in development and implementation of the agency communications plan and affiliated team and workgroup work-plans

·        Facilitate collaboration between programs and communications to ensure proper messaging and relevancy for presentations, outreach, events, campaigns and media

·        Support strong, collaborative multi-department communication and community engagement workgroups around communication projects

·        Assist the Communications Manager in creating and implementing a media and social media strategy, story bank database and blogger outreach program to build an active brand ambassador network to spread the word about WithinReach

·        Interview and write client stories for use in publications, communications, resource development campaigns and external communications

·        Coordinate with program staff to collect, synthesize and write content to feature on websites, blogs, newsletters, press/media and email communications

·        Help with the development of new marketing initiatives and work with internal teams and partners to expand reach and visibility of WithinReach and its programs

·        Assist in writing and distributing press materials including pitch letters, press releases/kits, and event advisories

·        Assist in editing and proofreading content for internal and external use

·        Support execution of agency events through a communication and promotional strategy lens

·        Assist with conceptualizing event themes, design invitations, event collateral and displays

·        Coordinate with external vendors and branches for collateral distribution and process/track invoices

·        Support in-house/contract graphic designer in graphic productions when workload exceeds capacity of the design team and/or as needed to ensure on-time delivery

·        Work with graphic designer to select photos and graphics using brand guidelines and templates

·        Maintain/manage communications, social media, podcast and blog production calendars

·        Responsible for conceptualizing and creating daily posts/tweets to all applicable social media outlets

·        Duties include twitter chats, online advocacy, editorial writing, community outreach efforts, event promotions, program campaigns and more

·        Coordinate Google Analytics for all websites and social media analytics to track visitors and activity for each platform

·        Point person for Articulate Storyline (E-Courses) technical development

·        Lead for video production and editing

·        Work with partners, developers and internal staff to align WithinReach web assets and web updates

·        Maintain and update internal and external templates (PowerPoint presentations, newsletter and email/donor communications)


·        Bachelor degree and/or 2-3 years related experience required, specifically in communications, marketing and public relations, background in graphic design is a plus

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

·        Excellent interpersonal skills

·        Deep knowledge of health equity principles and practices, and understanding of the issues of how racism, privilege, and oppression impact marginalized communities and populations

·        Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to multi-task, manage projects from start to finish, prioritize deadlines, and work independently, as well as part of a team.

·        Competency/ working knowledge of MS Office, Outlook; photo and video-editing software is an asset

·        Track social media trends, website and report influence measurements to use, i.e. Google Analytics

·        Have an understanding and appreciation for the communications needs of multi-cultural, highly diverse communities.

·        Excellent verbal, writing, editing and problem-solving skills.

·        Attention to detail

·        Comfortable working in fluid environments

Preferred - Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

·        Proficient in a second language, oral and written

·        Solid knowledge of public relations and media relation functions, including media, social media and measurement systems.

·        Competency in or ability to learn GoToMeetings, Constant Contact, WordPress, Articulate Storyline (webinar software)

·        Knowledge of current visual design trends

·        Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop

·        Experience working with non-profit organizations

Wages & Benefits: $45,000, Full-Time, 40 hours/week
