Description

Christ Lutheran Church (CLC) is a large, uniquely metropolitan congregation located in the Inner Harbor of Baltimore, with a deliberate urban involvement that includes a shelter for women and children, a senior housing facility, and a nursery school. The staff includes two pastors, three senior professional positions and eight other staff members.


Overview of the Position

The coordinator partners with CLC senior staff to effectively carry out the mission of the church through developing and nurturing a roster of member volunteers to support the social ministries of CLC.


Critical functions include

  • Building a team of volunteers who are passionate about service to others and are equipped and ready to serve.
  • Coordinating with the existing varied ministries within CLC.
  • Coordinating existing connections with organizations and partnerships.
  • Connect the social ministry of CLC with its broader mission as a church
  • Developing new relationships with neighbors, neighborhood associations and local organizations.
  • Communicating opportunities and accomplishments using print, digital, and social media.


Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will possess many, if not all, of the following professional qualifications, competencies and personal qualities.


General

  • A commitment to CLC's mission and ministry, and the ability to support those values in relationships with staff, congregation members, and the community.
  • Experience in recruiting and coordinating volunteers.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and to accept supervision.
  • Experience with and commitment to working in a diverse staff and constituency.
  • A college education is preferred, while excellent employment references will also be considered.


Administrative

  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to express oneself in excellent written and spoken business English.


Technical Skills

  • Microsoft Office skills, including but not limited to Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Ability to post to and update social media



Work Schedule

This is a part time, hourly position that reports directly to the senior pastor. Work schedule will be determined after hire, and will by necessity include Tuesday morning staff meetings and many Sunday mornings. It is estimated that it will require 15 to 20 hours per week.


Compensation and Benefits
