We provide home-based childcare businesses with the training and resources to succeed. Through a wide range of free programs and workshops, we support parents and caregivers as they build child development skills. As the city’s second-largest nonprofit contractor, with an annual budget of over $100 million, we are a major stakeholder in the child care system. Position Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated, resourceful, and dynamic candidate for the role of Director of Human Resources. This individual will be responsible for developing and directing operational excellence around HR processes and organizational training. While leading key functions within HR: Training, HRIS systems, and Performance Management, you will provide the leadership necessary to deliver a broad spectrum of operational and tactical HR support to employees and managers. With your strong project management and relationship-building skills, you will support HR strategies that successfully enhance our culture and employee experience. 

Direct Reports: This role will supervise two HR professionals.

Core Responsibilities:

Collaborates with leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to organizational training, staffing, staff engagement, and retention.

Work with leadership and program teams to create and lead the execution of our professional development and training roadmap; seamlessly connect organizational goals into our performance management process (Trakstar)

Partner with CHRO on strategic initiatives that enhance our service delivery as it relates to creating training plans, resources and opportunities for learning and development; onboarding, and other HR-related processes

Support the CHRO with innovative ideas for designing programs for recruiting strategies, workforce planning, training and development, performance management, diversity and inclusion, and retention initiatives

Work across programs to create a training and success-oriented roadmap for all staff

Develop and implement trainings that support and move forward DEI goals and initiatives

Support leadership with actively creating and tracking SMART goals in our LMS system; establishing goal-setting measures, identifying successful outcomes that culminate in our annual review process

Mentor, support and grow HR team members’ progress and professional development by maintaining an environment focused on GMC, collaboration, and inclusivity

Manage and support the HR team with creating and fine-tuning organizational processes, and workflows that reflect our culture and values

Support the HR team with implementing HR programs and events that build community and staff engagement; this includes employee events, staff communications, and employee recognition programs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-7 years of a wide array of HR experiences (HR Generalist) and practices including benefits, recruitment/hiring, performance management, organizational development, and training
  • BA/BS required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven experience managing, supporting, and coaching staff
  • Experience conducting and/or implementing trainings
  • Experience using project management software such as Asana or Smartsheet
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, focused on attention to detail, and comfortable with technology including HRIS systems; Microsoft Office Suite, Trakstar, Bamboo and LMS
  • Time management expert (prioritizing, tracking multiple projects and competing priorities)
  • Resourcefulness and the ability to get up to speed quickly on new subject matters is critical
  • Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification preferred
  • A background clearance is required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in an accurate and timely fashion.

• Dexterity to use office equipment; the ability to sit and work at a desk for extended periods of time.

• Ability to speak, hear, and understand speech at normal room levels.

• Physical agility to bend, stoop, walk, climb four flights of stairs if required.

This position will be working remotely until April 2021.
