Child Abuse Prevention Training Specialist

The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NYSPCC) is currently accepting applications for a Full–time Training Specialist at The NYSPCC. The position will involve a hybrid of in-person and remote work. 

The Training Specialist will work to support the development, delivery and promotion of The NYSPCC Training curricula and materials. The Training Specialist, in collaboration with other members of the Training Institute, will help to support local, national and international child abuse prevention initiatives. The Training Specialist will help develop and deliver all prevention programming targeting youth and parents/caregivers, with a focus on the Safe Touches program. The Training Specialist will serve as the coordinator for the Safe Touches program, an evidence-based child sexual abuse prevention program for K-3rd grade students. Coordination of this program includes: conducting outreach to public and private schools and youth-serving organizations across NYC; overseeing scheduling and coordination; communicating with school administrators, teachers and counselors; facilitating workshops; training clinicians and interns on facilitation; compiling data and generating program reports; and ensuring quality program implementation. This position will also help to support the expansion of the Safe Touches program to other platforms (virtual and e-learning) and other audiences. The Training Specialist will support with the development of training content and materials and the delivery of trainings to all youth age groups and parents and caregivers on issues related to child abuse and neglect. The ability to deliver trainings virtually and travel to deliver trainings in-person throughout NYC is required, as well as the ability to work a flexible weekday schedule to accommodate an occasional evening session.

The Training Specialist for the Training Institute will support all activities of the Training Institute including but not limited to:

· Curriculum and material development

· Facilitation of adult and child workshops and trainings

· Background research and evaluation

· Coordination and scheduling of trainings

· Outreach and promotion

· Collecting and reviewing data and generating program reports

Selection criteria:

MSW, MHC, MPH or equivalent preferred. Bachelor’s degree required plus 8-10 years of relevant experience. Experience teaching or providing workshops for youth; working with families and youth with histories of trauma and abuse; and an understanding of the complexities of domestic violence, child abuse and neglect and the child welfare process is essential.

Strong organizational, attention to detail, and communication skills (oral and written) is a must. Experience providing training or public speaking is strongly desired. The ideal candidate would also have experience in project management or program coordination and/or developing educational/training materials. Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite). Familiarity with research and evaluation protocols is a plus.

Up to $60,000commensurate with experience
