EYCEJ has a flat pay structure with all employees receiving the same level wages, equivalent to $20.79/hour


Description of Duties:

We are looking for a team member that thrives in a dynamic environment and is ready to engage in necessary conversations with stakeholders around the gaps in community stability (resident retention through housing equity, small business retention, workforce development, local hire, etc.)  in the Southeast Region of Los Angeles. Our Community Stability Policy Organizer will excel with critical thinking skills, research, and community engagement to solve problems before they become obstacles and be able to establish relationships with community residents, government agencies, and colleagues. They will be the connector between work areas of the organization to refine and implement the community stabilization toolkit from the Lower LA River Revitalization Plan.


The Community Stability Policy Organizer leads and manages the community engagement for EYCEJ’s equity platform; they will refine and expand the tools and the plan for community engagement with elected officials and stakeholders in the development process, support in uplifting our equity work and connect multiple programs within the organization by engaging in community stability policy work. The Community Stability Policy Organizer is an EYCEJ team member that leads their core project and fulfills their responsibilities to the entire team by actively fundraising, supporting organization-wide projects, participating in all-staff planning sessions, and being part of achieving the organization mission and vision alongside the entire EYCEJ team. This is a unique position requiring knowledge in community organizing, leadership development, policy advocacy, and community stability measures. During the first year of joining the team, the Community Stability Policy Organizer will report to the Executive Director.


Main duties


30% Community Organizing

• Conduct direct outreach to build a base around issues of community stability.

• Work with EYCEJ’s organizing team to identify gaps in member understanding and engagement in community stability measures.

• Plan, lead, develop and coordinate outreach strategies for implementing the Community Stabilization Tool Kit.

• Coordinate outreach efforts to community stakeholders on new development (public and private) in the SELA region.


30% Leadership Development

• Intentionally connect community residents engaged through community stability direct outreach with EYCEJ’s leadership academy.

• Conduct one-on-one meetings, personal visits, and employ leadership development-based organizing.

• Create capacity for EYCEJ team to lead community engagement spaces.

• Develop logistical plans, agendas, and community engagement plans.

• Develop tools to engage youth throughout our member meetings and beyond.

• Manage team, staff and volunteer, for outreach.


30% Research and Policy Analysis

• Identify any new or planned policy to address equity gaps.

• Present any policy recommendations to EYCEJ team at monthly meetings.

• Present any research and policies to members when possible

• Create a report on the landscape of community stability  measures in municipalities and identify gaps, opportunities, and next steps


10% Admin

• Maintain protocols for processing approved expenses and mileage reimbursement

• Report hours and timesheet

• Data input.

• Any duties that come up as necessary

  • Proven experience as a community organizer, 3+ years or more preferred.  
  • Experience in developing and implementing outreach and recruitment drives.
  • Knowledge of community stability measures preferred.  
  • Proficient in MS Office, relational databases and software.  
  • Outstanding communication and public speaking skills.  
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.  
  • Aptitude in problem-solving.   
  • Experience in facilitation, conflict resolution, team-building, and group dynamics.
  • Bilingual English-Spanish: the ability to speak, read and write in Spanish and work with monolingual Spanish speakers.
  • Current driver’s license, good driving record and valid auto insurance coverage
  • Work well in a team-oriented environment and ability to work independently, managing multiple priorities.  
  • Must be flexible and able to work in a versatile environment, available to work weekends and evenings.  
  • Knowledge of Southeast LA Region and/or have worked with similar demographics.  
  • Knowledge of Los Angeles political, social, and economic landscape.
