    Description

    Untermyer Gardens is a 43-acre public garden and municipal park owned by the City of Yonkers. The Garden created in 1917 by Samuel and Minnie Untermyer combines exceptional horticulture, monumental architecture, and multicultural design in a majestic natural setting overlooking the Hudson River. The Untermyer Gardens Conservancy is committed to sharing this outstanding resource with a diverse, global audience.

    The Conservancy seeks a part time Garden Programs Coordinator to oversee all seasonal adult and family programming focusing on the gardens and mission including the annual Grand Holiday Illumination. Programming should attract diverse audiences and broaden community engagement. This position reports to the Executive Director.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop, plan and execute all seasonal (March-December) programs for adults and families which include public tours, classes, workshops, special events, performances and lectures.
    • In collaboration with other departmental staff, plan and execute all aspects of the annual multi-night Grand Holiday Illumination. This includes planning the WELCOME and Refreshment Tents. Attend Illumination on important evenings.
    • Oversee all instructors and performers; prepare letters of agreement and process payments. Handle all event logistics.
    • Provide administrative support for programming which includes scheduling and permit approval; hire instructors and purchase supplies.
    • Working with the Volunteer Coordinator, oversee all program docents. Attend day of event.
    • Prepare descriptions of events for website and social media. Maintain Eventbrite ticketing software and input information for ticket sales.
    • Provide technical support for winter lecture both in person and virtual.
    • Assist Executive Director with other projects as needed

    Requirements:

    Minimum 5 years experience in programming preferably in a cultural, museum or environmental institution. Knowledge of Eventbrite, Google Suite, Microsoft Office and Zoom required and CRM software is helpful. Ability to work outdoors and some labor-intensive work may be necessary. Some knowledge of video and audio equipment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    Salary:

    Salary Rate is $32/hour. 21 hour work week with hybrid schedule requiring two days in office.Some weekend and evening work is required. Position begins January 2026.
